Michigan Health Officials Warn of ANOTHER “Scary” Virus That People Should Worry About

Brandon Turbeville
October 10, 2020

While Michiganders focus on the COVID-19 issue as well as attempting to get their state’s economy back on track, Michigan public health officials are now warning of another potential breakout of a new virus, Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE).

EEE is spread by mosquitoes and MI officials claim they are doing everything they can to stop the spread as COVID fatigue sets in with citizens across the country.

One of the methods officials have devised is strikingly similar to what they are suggesting for COVID – i.e. urging residents to stay indoors after dark and protect themselves against mosquitoes when they are out. All this comes after a resident in Barry County was suspected of contracting EEE.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services announced the case last week.
“This suspected EEE case in a Michigan resident shows this is an ongoing threat to the health and safety of Michiganders and calls for continued actions to prevent exposure, including aerial treatment,” Dr. Joneigh Khaldun, chief medical executive and chief deputy for health at MDHHS, said in a statement. “MDHHS continues to encourage local officials in the affected counties to consider postponing, rescheduling or cancelling outdoor activities occurring at or after dusk, particularly those involving children to reduce the potential for people to be bitten by mosquitoes.”

Australia To Run Out Of Rice By December

Robert Wheeler
September 29, 2020

Recently, I wrote an article regarding coming food shortages the world over, but particularly in the United States. I should say, food shortages are coming in the Western World, particularly those parts of the world that continue to cling to fanatical "health guidelines" that involve the shutting down of economies and normal life. These food shortages are no accident and there is a much deeper agenda here than can be covered in the pages of this article. Needless to say, I plan to do this in the very near future.

But, while the United States receives so much attention from readers of my articles, it's important to mention the scale of food shortages that are going to be seen not just here but in other places as well.

Case in point, Australia. The entire continent is now on total house arrest, with the level of totalitarianism and police state enforcement only rivaled by that of China.

Australia is now bracing to be out of domestically produced rice by Christmas. Yes, you read that right.

Here Are 4 Potential Hotspots Where the Next World War Could Erupt at Any Time

Robert Wheeler
September 28, 2020

If 2020 had a slogan, it would be “The Year Of Our Discontent.” This sentiment is felt in virtually every country globally as national governments declare war on their economy, the working class, the poor, and the very old and the very young. In America, the “discontent” is genuine.

Already reeling from a mass propaganda campaign of division created by the MSM corporate outlets, Americans were still attempting to claw their way out of an economic depression with some success.

Then, of course, came COVID.

China engaged in a massive police state repression of what few individual liberties existed, locking residents in their apartment buildings, disappearing doctors, and, allegedly, patients themselves. Australia and Western Europe joined in the hysteria, with Australia attempting to become as totalitarian as the Chinese and mainly succeeding.

Western Europe engaged in the biggest propaganda campaign since the war in Iraq and the United States. Locked in some media manipulated struggle, Western Europe saw its governments shut down their economies, deploy National Guard troops, enforce lockdowns, and wear masks for their states’ populations.

What’s the Conflict Between Greece and Turkey All About?

Brandon Turbeville
September 27, 2020

The majority of people tend to think of the concept of history as if it is something relegated only to the past. As if they are not living through what will become history in the future. Doing so allows them to maintain a thought process that convinces them that world wars and European wars, in general, are over.

After all, Europe learned its lesson in the Big One – and the Big One after that. Of course, with any such incident, there’s history, and there’s what actually happened.

If things between Greece and Turkey don’t cool down, a European/Mediterranean war will ensue.

Such a war would not be merely European but Euro-Asian and, at its furthest reach, global.

With Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s neo-Ottoman desires at the forefront, Turkey is expanding its national borders, with what Erdogan seems to believe will resurrect the Ottoman Empire. From Iraq to Syria and Libya, Turkey has attempted to either gain territory or forcefully make a seat at the international table through military action. Now, however, Turkey is threatening Greece as well and, as a result, Europe.

The Supply Chain Is Broken and Food Shortages Are HERE

Robert Wheeler
September 26, 2020

If you are a reader of this site, you might be more interested in the food supply chain than most, at least when things are good. So, if you have been paying attention recently, you might find that there have been some severe disturbances in that supply chain.

Several months ago, the immediate disruptions began at the beginning of the COVID-19 hysteria, when factories, distribution centers, and even farms shut down under the pretext of “flattening the curve.”

As a result, Americans found necessities were missing on the shelves for the first time in years. Items like hand sanitizer and Clorox wipes were, of course, out of stock.

Soon other items became noticeably missing as well.

People began to notice meat, and even canned vegetables and rice were soon missing from the shelves. Most of this was simply the result of mass panic buying, although “preppers” were blamed for “hoarding.” Therefore, people who had not been prepping all along and were suddenly caught with their pants down.

Facebook’s New AI Could Help You “remember everything from where you left your keys to whether you already added vanilla to that bowl of cookie dough”

If you are uncomfortable with Mark Zuckerberg’s massive data-mining operation, otherwise known as Facebook, you might be even more uncomfortable with his next public venture.

While the software, AI, and algorithms used by Facebook are already uncanny in their ability to monitor and predict behavior, Facebook is now launching a research program into creating an AI indoor mapping technology and increased sound recognition.

This isn’t your ordinary AI program.

It’s not just about mapping and recognition but the permanent memory of objects and locations.

Just read part of this CNN report, “Facebook Wants To Help Build AI That Can Remember Everything For You.”
The company announced a real-world sound simulator that will let researchers train AI systems in three-dimensional virtual spaces. These spaces will mimic sounds that occur indoors, opening up the possibility for an AI assistant to help you track down a smartphone ringing in a distant room.

China is Spying on Millions of People. And They Aren’t in China

Robert Wheeler
The Organic Prepper
September 22. 2020

After years of constant media fear-mongering, a sizeable number of Americans continue to believe in the disproven “Russiagate” conspiracy theory.

Putin, the story goes, owns Donald Trump and engaged in a massive propaganda campaign via social media, hacking elections, and other collusion forms to ensure that Trump was elected. Now, Putin sits like Cobra Commander in the Kremlin, directed Trump’s actions, and Trump does what he is told.

Yet these same Americans harbor little fear of China, the nation to which America’s economy was sold decades ago (and the one who threatened to withhold all medical exports during a pandemic) and the only real aggressive empire (though admittedly the Russian bear is beginning to wake up) outside of the United States.

Despite China’s imperial ambitions, leftists all across the United States reacted in outrage and mockery when Donald Trump announced plans to ban TikTok, the Chinese owned social media firm. According to them, the idea that China may be using TikTok for nefarious purposes is beyond the scope of reality. It is yet one more conspiracy theory conjured up by Trump and Qanoons.

Yes, I Still Oppose The Lockdown — Principles and Fear in the Age of COVID-19

Brandon Turbeville
Activist Post
April 22, 2020

On March 24, I wrote one of my most controversial articles. "Two Hundred And Thirty Years Of Rights And Liberties Shredded: Why I Oppose The Lockdown."

Of course, nothing said in the article should ever be considered controversial. I merely stated my opposition to the "Lockdowns" taking place all across the country, the violations of the 1st and 4th Amendments, and the deliberate crashing of the economy. In a well-educated rational society, such a statement would raise no eyebrows and even agreement would be expressed in the generic, "yes, of course" manner. But a well-educated rational society we do not have. In its place, is a society of emotion and fear and that is perhaps the most dangerous kind.

In response to my article, I was treated to the typical responses that one might expect in the latter type of society. I saw criticism that I was putting money over people, claims that I was ignoring the severity of the virus, and insinuations that I was selfishly holding on to "rights" that apparently only exist in times of peace, prosperity, and good health. Further absurd accusations came that anyone who opposed the "lockdown" is a right wing extremist or even a neo-Nazi.

On numerous instances, I was arrogantly challenged by another writer to "give it a week" and see if my position is still the same. Presumably, the virus outbreak would have worsened by then and I would be so horrified by the death and horror around me, I would retract my previous position about rights being sacred and come to love Big Brother. In a week, I would acknowledge that 2 + 2 = 5 and join the masses calling for lockdowns and shutdowns and whatever else "authorities" have in store for us.

Well, it's been nearly a moth and my position is the same. It will be the same in another week and in another. What my critics, of course, fail to understand is that, if one has rights, those rights do not take a back seat to their fear of getting sick, being a victim of a terror attack, or of dying by any means. Ever.

How Will America End? A Bang, A Whimper, Or Something Else

Brandon Turbeville
Activist Post
April 16, 2020

Hope is a wonderful thing. Even in the darkest of times, hope gives us the strength to keep working toward a goal in the face of impossibility or to keep fighting for life even though all evidence points to the contrary. Hope is what can lead to miracles, to beauty, and to revolutions.

But hope can be a treacherous thing as well. It can blind those standing on train tracks to believe that the train heading towards them will stop in time or to believe, despite hearing the whistle as clear as day, that the light at the end of the tunnel is not a train at all. It can fool people living in unbearable circumstances, who are listening to their own governments denounce them as criminals and parasites worthy of eradication to believe that things are going to get better. Things will get better, in their mind, because they have to.

Despite everything I have seen from all levels of government in the US, the mainstream media, and worst of all, from the American people, I still have to admit that I have hope that my country will realize the error of its ways and attempt to return to some sense of sanity and normalcy. I hope that the American people realize that deliberately crashing our economy, shredding the Bill of Rights, and placing the majority of the population on house arrest was not only a bad idea but an act of treason on the part of government officials and a terrifying lesson in why government by emotion, outrage mob, and fear always leads to the same thing - the imposition of tyranny, the erosion and elimination of civil liberties, and the empowering of would-be tyrants to no longer "would-be" but "be."

I still have that hope but I do not have expectations.

Meanwhile, WW3 May Be Brewing While We’re Distracted

Brandon Turbeville
April 14, 2020

Those who are paying close attention to the pandemic may have missed that another potential killer is brewing across the ocean. In Syria today, there is the real and looming threat of a third world war. Not only is Syria fighting Western-backed terrorists on its territory, there are many more players involved on Syrian soil – from the Russians and Iranians to the Americans, Turks, and Israelis and, with the recent Turkish actions, all of those players could very well come to blows.

It’s well-known to geopolitical scholars that the world is already in global conflict. With the United States, NATO, Israel, EU, and the Gulf States loosely united against the “multi-polar” world of Russia, China, Iran and a growing host of “target” nations that prefer the carrot over the stick, the globe is already in a quiet world war, though the major powers have yet to publicly declare it on one another. As it stands currently, the global conflict is more akin to the Cold War where color revolutions and proxy wars are the order of the day. However, the quiet war can only remain quiet for so long, until one side begins to see that it is the inevitable loser. Then the quiet war becomes loud.

When the Western powers initiated the war against Syria in 2011, it was largely expected and intended to go the way of the Libyan disaster that just ended. However, with the unity of Syrian culture, Syrian government leadership and, most importantly, Russia entering into the war on the side of the Syrian government, the quick destruction of the Syrian state has resulted in a nine year war that has seen Syria turn the tide on the largest and most effective military state in the world.

But while Syria has been defeating Western backed terrorists on its own territory, there are a number of players now involved in the country that could very well find themselves in direct confrontation with one another, leading their proxy forces into a larger much more destructive and global war.

Summation of events

After having dispatched troops to the terrorist haven of Idlib, Syria as the Syrian military engaged in a massive push to liberate the region. Turkey has since come to the rescue of the embattled terrorists, launching drone attacks, airstrikes, and ground forces into Syrian territory.

Syria's Two Fronts: War and COVID19

Afraa Dagher
Activist Post
April 1, 2020

Syria is facing a war like no other country. It has been under siege since March, 2011, engineered by the Western world which has backed jihadists inside the country, jihadists which Western media outlets then promoted as “rebels.” The next phase of the war was for the same western “coalition” to enter Syria under the guise of fighting ISIS, the same terrorists the West had organized and supported for so long. The truth, however, was that, when the terrorist groups which the West sent inside Syria were unable to destroy the country, outside forces were required and those outside forces were the Western countries themselves.

The terrorist mercenaries did manage to achieve two goals for the West, however. The first was bringing chaos to Syrian system of secularism, high sciences and development both economic and military. The second was to give Western countries the pretext for deploying their troops to Syria. This was accomplished by destroying the medicinal factories, bombing and assassinating scientists, disrupting and destroying the universities and schools. No facility escaped the terrorists’ bombs which were later followed by airstrikes both the “coalition” of Western countries and sometimes by Israel. Our country witnessed the worst period ever in regards to suicide bombings, terror attacks, explosive belts, or car bombings targeting schools and murdering children. For instance, Ekrima Elementary School in Homs was bombed twice in 2014. The University of Damascus was also a target of the terrorists and the attacks that took place there produced many martyrs. The University of Lattakia and the bus stop nearby saw many people killed as it was timed to take place during rush hour. Many of the bodies were never identified. Even in Tartus, there were suicide bombings.

All of this was inn addition to the land mines left by terrorists.

One of the more recent and high profile victims was RT Arabic reporter Wafaa Shabrouni who is now receiving her medical treatment in Moscow.

It is difficult to count the number of times were under the threat of being bombed by the US, who bombed our people in Raqqa and our army’s positions in Deir ez Zour to give support to the terrorists every time we liberated our land from those cannibals and savages.

Two Hundred and Thirty Years of Rights and Liberties Shredded: Why I Oppose The Lockdown

Brandon Turbeville
Activist Post
March 24, 2020

Although it was nearly twenty years ago, I can remember 9/11 like it was yesterday. I remember the shock of hearing about the planes crashing into towers, at first believing it was a tragic accident and quickly learning it to be otherwise. I remember being told that 19 hijackers, part of a fundamentalist plot to destroy America, were behind the attacks and that the mastermind was a man in a cave in Afghanistan named Osama bin Laden.

As all of America was glued to their television screens, many rushed out to give blood in an effort to at least do something to help one another. George W. Bush's answer for Americans was to go to work and then go out and shop. Americans dutifully complied. But the government's answer, in tandem with mainstream media, was also to be afraid. Very afraid. Americans also complied with this request, perhaps more than any other.

In the days and weeks after the initial shock, a college professor informed me about a bill called the PATRIOT ACT that would essentially eviscerate much of the Constitution and Bill of Rights. After class, I questioned him further about the bill, which he explained, and suggested that if I really wanted to understand what was happening, I should read 1984 by George Orwell. I went home and did just that and was surprised to learn that not only was he right, but that I was watching what I was reading happen in front of me in real life.

I watched as the fear of speaking your mind and saying certain words became known as freedom. I watched as Americans came to assume that their communications were listened to, frightened of what they said, but justifying it as they praised their country for being unlike the totalitarian governments of the past. Peace became war. Any suggestion that invading Afghanistan was wrong was unpatriotic. In fact, any criticism of the government was considered unpatriotic and anyone who valued freedom over temporary security was borderline a traitor.

Current Conflict In Syria Is Nothing New - Plan Goes Back To 1983

Brandon Turbeville
Activist Post
March 7, 2020

While the majority of Americans have been focused on the spread of COVID-19, they may have missed the fact that Turkey has all but declared a war and invaded Syria. After having dispatched troops to the terrorist haven of Idlib, Syria as the Syrian military engaged in a massive push to liberate the region. Turkey has since come to the rescue of the embattled terrorists, launching drone attacks, airstrikes, and ground forces into Syrian territory.

Turkey established a number of "observation points," that the Syrian military, during the process of liberation early on in the Battle of Idlib, surrounded. The Syrian military did not disturb these posts or harm any Turkish soldiers.

However, that all changed when the Syrian and Russian air forces began bombing terrorist targets. Those airstrikes killed a number of Turkish soldiers who had been embedded with terrorist groups. Turkey then played victim and Erdogan sent more Turkish soldiers and engaged in airstrikes against the Syrian military. Later, another Syrian airstrikes killed yet more Turkish soldiers who were also embedded with terrorists, resulting in a forceful Turkish response of drone attacks and airstrikes and the further progression of Turkish troops onto Syrian soil.

Syria managed to shoot down a number of Turkish drones but other airstrikes have since avoided hits from the Syrian air defenses.

Israel has also stepped up its attacks on Syria, claiming to be targeting "Iranian" assets but really attacking forces assisting Syria in the fight against terrorism. In fact, Israel recently announced that it has a plan to remove Iran from Syria in the next 12 months.

Thus, with Turkey attacking from the North and Israel attacking from the Southwest and, of course, the American troop presence in the Northeast, Syria is now facing a multi-front war."

The strategy being implemented by the Western establishment (here, specifically Turkey and Israel) is identical to the one proposed by the Brookings Institution in its document “Middle East Memo #21: Saving Syria: Assessing Options For Regime Change,” where it says,

How the SHTF in Syria: What It’s REALLY Like to Survive a Long-Term War

In 2003, young Syrians sat in their living rooms and watched the Americans roll into Iraq amid missiles, bombs, and the requisite "Shock and Awe." This was not the first experience their country had with America's war machine in the region but it was the first time this generation had seen the war with the eyes of adults. Iraq, after all, was not Afghanistan. It was practically next door.

The invasion and subsequent war were bad enough. The occupation, however, was even worse. While Americans were being fed faked videos of celebrating Iraqis pulling down the statues of Saddam Hussein, Syrian media was showing a more accurate version of events; i.e.  the US military terrorizing, killing, and maiming the Iraqi people.

2006 came around and these same Syrians witnessed Iraq fall in to chaos. Iraqis were no longer united against the American invader, they were divided Sunni against Shi'ite, Muslim against Christian, territory against territory. As the Pentagon sat back, pleased in the chaos it had created, Syrians sat in dismay at how the Iraqis could descend into civil war, particularly when the clear enemy was on its soil and flying its enemy flag.

Most of all, Syrians were grateful. "Thank God," they said. "Thank God we live here and we don't have to deal with war."  One Syrian girl told me, "At the time, all I could think was how horrible it must be to live through something like that. I was so glad to live in Syria. I couldn't imagine war coming here."

In 2011, the US occupation had built one of the largest embassies in the world. The Iraqi state was weak and squabbling but effectively acting as a caretaker government under the watchful eye of the American empire. The feeling and opposition to America's presence in Iraq was still there as was the knowledge that Syria was on the list to be destroyed. Syrians had heard Wesley Clark list also and, besides, they already knew Syria was on the chopping block if Washington, Tel Aviv, and the powers behind them ever had their way and the guts they would need to start the war. However, Syria was not Iraq.

Photos From Final Liberation of Aleppo Demonstrates How MSM Narrative Was False All Along

Western mainstream media outlets simply cannot show the results of the recent liberation of Western Aleppo in Syria without first doing much editing and damage control work on the television screen. While Western outlets continue the tired line that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is "killing his own people" and that the poor democracy-loving "freedom fighters" armed, trained, and directed by the Western powers are nothing more than victims, scenes from Syria easily challenge any perceptions western audiences may have had regarding recent events there. In fact, any claims that the Syrian people are opposed to the government's liberation of Syrian territory is completely rebuffed with the pictures currently coming out of Aleppo.

Coronavirus Special Report: “Epidemics” Become More Deadly When Living Standards Are Lower

Brandon Turbeville
The Organic Prepper
January 28, 2020

Year after year, the world's public is subjected to a fear campaign surrounding some frightening disease, from Zika virus to Ebola. Each year Western audiences in particular are brow beaten with fear over a disease that, one year later, is scarcely remembered. What is remembered, however, is the reaction of Federal, local, and state governments and the ever growing authoritarian "solutions" provided. The solutions always take the form of "discussions" over even greater violations of individual rights, forced vaccination, dislocation, forced quarantine, and medical tyranny.

This year's disease is Coronavirus, a SARS-like upper respiratory illness that has allegedly killed over 40 people in China and is allegedly popping up all over the world, including here in the United States.

For the purpose of this article, we will leave aside questions of how this virus suddenly appeared, its origins, real dangers, and how it is spreading so fast.

Assuming that the threat of Coronavirus is real, there are a number of solutions to the festering pandemic that are acutely being ignored. Travel bans from affected areas, greater screening at airports and other national access points, particularly the U.S./Mexico border have all been largely ignored until recently. A comprehensive policy of treatment and containment of the disease that does not entail the implementation of martial law and the violation of Constitutional rights also appears to be nonexistent.

Yet there is also a more long term set of solutions that must be implemented in order to prevent the disease from spreading and to prevent its appearance in the first place. The end of austerity, the rebuilding of economic opportunity, access to proper nutrition, and the progress and development of the American health system are all essential to treating and preventing Coronavirus and outbreaks from diseases like it.

Austerity begets disease

Throughout history, plagues and disease epidemic can be traced directly to austerity, low living standards, and/or poor sanitation conditions often coupled with inadequate nutrition and lack of available treatment. War and periods of struggle are also precursors to epidemics. Any one of these conditions can themselves beget plague and disease. Yet, when taken together, they are a recipe for devastation and plague.

OPCW Discredits Itself, Whistleblowers Lay Corruption Bare Before The World

Brandon Turbeville

January 4, 2020

It’s almost two years after the bombing of al-Sha’aryat Airbase in Syria by the United States. Almost two years since the alleged “chemical weapons attack” on Douma, Syria which was blamed on the Syrian government and justified the subsequent American bombing. Now, after the resultant deaths of innocent people via America's Tomahawk missile attack and the ridicule and blacklisting of alt media outlets who questioned and disproved the claims of the U.S. government regarding Douma, more and more evidence has come to the foreground showing that alternative media analysts (such as myself) were right all along.

For those unfamiliar with the alleged attack and the Western response, I highly encourage you to read my article, "The Truth About The Syria Chemical Attacks - No Evidence Of Assad Chem Weapons, Western False Flag Seems Likely.

In the year since that article was written, however, even more evidence has come to light regarding the alleged attack and the attempt to cover up how the entire event was staged by the terrorist White Helmets, Western media outlets and NGOs, as well as Western intelligence agencies.

OPCW Reports

After a year of "pre-reports," "unpublished reports," and reports from various factions of the OPCW organization such as the Fact Finding Mission in Syria, the OPCW finally released its comprehensive and official report in March, 2019. This report claimed that forensic evidence was consistent with the use of chlorine gas and advanced a ballistics report that implicated the Syrian government (by suggesting the "chemical weapon" was delivered by an aerial drop). Western governments immediately began claiming that the report had confirmed not only that a chemical weapons attack had taken place but that the Syrian government was responsible.

Despite it's previous report, it was apparent that, once the evidence made it to the higher ups at the OPCW, that evidence was either ignored or twisted to fit a predetermined narrative.

Salient Points About The Soleimeini Assassination

Brandon Turbeville
BrandonTurbeville.com
January 6, 2020

This article contains some brief information, culminated from this writer and a number of others written in the aftermath of the US assassination of Qassim Soleimani. I highly encourage you to read the articles linked after the quotes below and explore the rest of what these researchers have to say.

(1.) The claim that Soleimani posed an “imminent threat” is completely without evidence, rumored to be “razor thin”, and entirely debunked in this excellent essay by Craig Murray. Caitlin Johnstone - "The US Government Lies Constantly, And The Burden Of Proof Is On The Accuser"

(2) Mike Pence’s claim that Soleimani assisted 9/11 terrorists is so ridiculous that even the war-loving Washington Post dismissed it. Caitlin Johnstone - "The US Government Lies Constantly, And The Burden Of Proof Is On The Accuser"

(3) There’s no proof that Soleimani directed the strike that allegedly killed a US contractor, or that that contractor even existed. Caitlin Johnstone - "The US Government Lies Constantly, And The Burden Of Proof Is On The Accuser"

(4) There’s no proof that Soleimani was involved in any “attack” on any US embassy, leaving aside the obvious fact that a little graffiti on the walls wouldn’t justify his assassination if he did. Caitlin Johnstone - "The US Government Lies Constantly, And The Burden Of Proof Is On The Accuser"

(5) The “hundreds of American deaths” line you hear regurgitated by everyone from Trump to Elizabeth Warren actually refers to Iraqis defending themselves from an illegal US invasion with some training from Iran. The claim that Iran was behind Iraqi bombs is without evidence and wouldn’t matter if it were true; claiming the inhabitants of an invaded nation don’t have the right to defend themselves is absurd, regardless of where they got their weaponry.  Caitlin Johnstone - "The US Government Lies Constantly, And The Burden Of Proof Is On The Accuser"

This is a horribly inconvenient fact for US administrations which, regardless of party, are beholden to Saudi Arabia and its money. It is, the USA affirms, the Sunnis who are the allies and the Shias who are the enemy. Yet every journalist or aid worker hostage who has been horribly beheaded or otherwise executed has been murdered by a Sunni, every jihadist terrorist attack in the USA itself, including 9/11, has been exclusively Sunni, the Benghazi attack was by Sunnis, Isil are Sunni, Al Nusra are Sunni, the Taliban are Sunni and the vast majority of US troops killed in the region are killed by Sunnis.

Killing Soleimeni - The US Assassinates Leader In Fight Against ISIS, Pushes Everyone Closer To Wider War

Editor’s note: Brandon is one of those writers who people either love or hate. I don’t always agree with his conclusions but I can never fault his research. I know him to be a good and ethical person.

However, he writes without republican or democrat bias and sometimes the US government doesn’t come up smelling like roses in his analyses. That is offensive to many people. I always welcome civil discussion in the comments. Your argument will hold far more weight if you come armed with facts, not emotions or ad hominem attacks. ~ Daisy

Yesterday morning, the world was alight with news that Qassim Soleimani was assassinated by a US drone last night outside the Baghdad airport. Here’s some information on the background of this conflict, what happened, and what we can expect.

Here's What Happened

This assassination was, according to Trump administration officials and hints by the President himself, approved and ordered by Donald Trump. In addition to Soleimani, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis (aka Jamal Jaafar Ibrahimi) was also killed alongside six other people.

Soleimani was the Iranian commander of the Quds Force while Muhandis was the commander of Ketaib Hezbollah, a militia belonging to the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces (PMU).

Republicans have categorically supported the move and Democrats, despite the requisite criticism of Trump's "reckless mishandling" of the situation, also supported the move.

Although not the first time an American President has ordered an assassination, this is the first publicly acknowledged successful assassination of a high-level official. Defense Secretary Mark T. Esper stated that the Pentagon had taken "decisive defensive action" against Soleimani and stated that the attack was made on the orders of the President. "The game has changed," Esper said.

Iran Has Promised Retaliation

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khameinei has vowed revenge as have a number of Iranian generals and politicians, leaving many to wonder just how, when, and where the Iranian response will take place.

Iraq's Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi condemned the assassination and added that the murder was a breach of the conditions under which the US military operates in Iraq and that Iraq would now have to re-evaluate its relationship with the United States. This essentially means that the Iraqi Parliament may vote to oust US troops from Iraq entirely.
