Genocide Of Alawites And Christians Taking Place In Syria While Western Media, Governments Are Silent

Brandon Turbeville

March 16, 2025

Despite the Western press reporting the new “freedom” in Syria that miraculously came about with the fall of the Assad government, the reality on the ground is anything but. Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) terrorist leader Jolani is now the de facto head of the broken state of Syria and, regardless of his statements to Western governments and their media mouthpieces, he is not ushering in an “inclusive” Syria. Instead, the Jolani government is overseeing a religious genocide of Alawites and Christians that previously existed only in the wet dreams of Western-backed terrorists.

While figures are hard to corroborate, estimates range from somewhere between 7,000 to 17,000 Alawites and Christians have been slaughtered in the coastal regions of Syria by terrorist forces in the last several weeks. 15,000 are also reported missing.Other sources put the figures much higher.

Indeed, the killing of Alawites and Christians by terrorist forces never stopped, even after the fall of Assad. Yet, in recent weeks, the killings have intensified to unprecedented levels.

In the days following the fall of the Assad government some former members of the Syrian Arab Army and others formed resistance and protection militias focused in areas that are predominately Alawite, located on the Syrian coast for the purposes of self defense. In the last two weeks, HTS forces began committing numerous atrocities against Alawites in the coastal region, prompting a response from the protection militias who struck back at HTS.

Here's A Rundown Of Events In Syria As Of January 14, 2025

Brandon Turbeville

January 14, 2025

Since the fall of Assad, Western governments and their media outlets have celebrated right alongside the terrorists they supported since 2011. Among the things to cheer, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham has now established control over almost all major cities in Syria and much of the countryside, making Syria essentially a terrorist controlled state. In that capacity, HTS is now imposing various forms of Sharia Law onto a population whose majority prefer a secular state. They must keep those preferences to themselves now, however, as HTS representatives have already told Alawite schoolchildren that any utterance about secular states would result in their deaths.

So, while western governments and corporate media outlets groan on wringing their hands about Sednaya (some real horrors and some imagined), the ongoing killings, bordering on “cleansing” of ethnic and religious minorities is indeed very real. On this issue, there is no handwringing  and there are no calls to intervene. On this issue, one can only hear the sound of crickets amongst the screams of Alawites and Christians.

According to sources within Syria, Christians are facing heavy persecution in Salamieh, Hama Province. Alawites are facing more than persecution, with outright torture and killings now the order of the day. The attacks gained steam first in Homs, then Tartous and Lattakia.

All over Syria,  women are being told they must wear the hijab, a stark contrast to what Jolani has been saying publicly. Zenobia has been struck from the school textbooks in order to cleanse Syrian history and remove references to powerful infidels.

Leaving Landmines For Trump In Syria

Brandon Turbeville

January 2, 2025

Now that the Assad government has fallen, the giant landmine left to the incoming Trump administration is now glaringly obvious to anyone with open eyes – the fact that Syria is now controlled by al-Qaeda and ISIS.

With the questionable doubling of US troops in Syria shortly before the Assad departure, almost certainly a part of a back door international deal, the new President will be left with a much more volatile Syrian question – Does Trump remove US forces from Syria and risk what neocons and liberals will inevitably  claim is “emboldening” ISIS or does he stay in and risk another Iraq with mercurial objectives of “defeating ISIS?”

As Antonio Graceffo wrote in his article, “Countering ISIS: America’s Intensified Mission In Syria,” for The Gateway Pundit,

The Pentagon recently disclosed that the doubling of U.S. troop levels in Syria predates the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime, highlighting a sustained commitment to countering ISIS and preventing its resurgence in the region.

While most of the deployed troops are Army personnel focused on disrupting ISIS operations, details regarding the timeline and specifics of their mission remain unclear.

Reports indicate that the troop increase has been in place for months, raising questions about the transparency of U.S. involvement in Syria.

Pentagon spokesperson Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder emphasized that the additional forces are not related to recent events, such as the search for missing journalist Austin Tice, but instead reflect long-term counterterrorism objectives.

On December 8, 2024, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) conducted precision airstrikes targeting over 75 known ISIS camps and operatives in central Syria.

Syria Is Now In Civil War

Brandon Turbeville

January 4, 2025

Western governments and mainstream media may have presented the terrorist forces in Syria as pluralist victors, determined to keep the peace and protect minorities, but those of us who have been following the Syrian crisis since the beginning knew better all along.

For his part, Jolani (and HTS) is the new de facto leader of part of the country, even as four other nations launch bombing campaigns inside it, and competing terrorist armies fight with another over territory, religion, or other disputes.

Jolani publicly states that he wants good relations with all neighbors and that all Syrians will have rights and protection.

But the situation on the ground is a bit different.

For instance, 14 members of HTS were killed in Tartous in an ambush by the remnants of the Syrian Army. HTS is engaged in a mission to “pursue Assad loyalists” and “restore order,” though no one is sure just how liberally the term “Assad loyalist” is being applied. Indeed, it has been extended from a targeted search of those who tortured or executed prisoners to “loyalists” in a very short time.

Nevertheless, the clashes lasted at least two days and since spread to the mountain region of Lattakia.

Ethnic Cleansing Beginning In Syria?

Brandon Turbeville
BrandonTurbeville.com
January 3, 2025

It’s been weeks since the “fall” of the Assad government in Syria and semi-installation of a new terrorist run government. In fact, it seems that Syria is largely run by al-Qaeda, rebranded as Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, under its leader Jolani.

While Jolani initially spoke of a Syria “for all Syrians” where minority groups would be protected and freedom of religion would be respected, where women would not be forced to where the veil, and where peace would be the ultimate goal, many onlookers predicted a different track for Syria – one of bloodshed, civil war, ethnic and religious cleansing.

It seems that the latter was indeed the more accurate prediction.

Syria has been devolving into civil war between terrorist factions and the remnants of the Syrian military and unaffiliated militias. At the same time, terrorist forces are fighting one another, fanatical Kurds are fighting terrorists and Turkey, the United States is bombing alleged ISIS targets, and Israel is launching a massive bombing campaign all across the country to destroy all equipment and military infrastructure that once belonged to the Syrian military. Israel is also occupying a “buffer zone” of illegally annexed and extended territory belonging to Syria.

The country is already breaking down into a land of warring factions, resembling the Lebanese civil war more and more each day.

US Doubles Number Of Troops In Syria After Fall Of Assad Government

Brandon Turbeville
BrandonTurbeville.com
January 2, 2025

The Syrian government has collapsed and now, after decades of being told they must surrender their rights in order to protect themselves from al-Qaeda, the American people are being told al-Qaeda is “saying all the right things” in Syria and they must now rejoice over the terrorist organization’s victory there.

Various terrorist factions are now fighting against one another in Syria ( a revolution after the revolution), minority groups are fighting back in areas where they are unwilling to be victims of extermination campaigns, Israel is bombing the entire country and invading from the Golan, Kurds are fighting other terrorist groups, and the United States is still occupying the east of the country, intensifying its own bombing campaigns. Syria is teetering on the border of becoming a state without a state consumed with civil war.

American troops stationed in Syria and Iraq are now sitting ducks for any real fighting to be done – for retaliation by Iran or Russia.

But the 900 troops that remained in Syria even after being ordered out of the country by President Donald Trump in his first term (as a result of his own staff lying to him about the real numbers of troops there), are being joined by 1100 more Americans, according to the Pentagon. [1]

Israel Drops 'Earthquake Bombs' In Syria While Situation On The Ground Worsens, Chaos Looms

Brandon Turbeville

December 16, 2024

While Western corporate media outlets present a picture of celebrations and parties in the street over the fall of Syria’s Bashar al-Assad, the reality on the ground is a much different story.

Ever since the fall of Assad, Israel has launched an unprecedented bombing campaign all across the country, targeting Syria’s military bases, equipment, airplanes, ships, and weapons depots. The Israeli goal is to eliminate the ability of any military threat or resistance by its neighbor, regardless of who the ruling party might be. Having supported the jihadists over the entirety of the last 13 years, the Israeli government now seeks to castrate them into complete military impotence, a plan that seems to be working extremely well.

According to al-Mayadeen,

Israeli strikes in Tartus countryside caused massive explosions, Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported early Monday, as the Israeli regime continues to target and destroy Syria's military capabilities.

Several civilians were killed and injured in what has been described as the heaviest and most violent attacks on Syria since the onset of Israeli aggression. The intense bombardment on the city was so powerful that it caused an earthquake-like tremor, which residents could physically feel, according to Al Mayadeen's correspondent.

Israeli media reporting on the bombing described the aggression as a "Hiroshima in Tartus" due to the intensity of the attacks.

Our correspondent said that the strikes targeted weapons depots in several sites in western Syria.

History Is Being Rewritten In Syria

Brandon Turbeville

History is written by the winners as they say and nowhere is there more evidence of this than the Syrian conflict, having now closed one chapter and opened another. For thirteen years, Western countries including NATO and the United States as well as the GCC and Israel, have funded, armed, trained, and directed terrorist forces of overwhelmingly foreign elements (and some Syrians) in order to overthrow the Assad government in Syria. In the course of that plot, Western media outlets demonized Assad and the Syrian Army as the epitome of evil. Every single person killed was the fault of Assad and, if you listened to Western media, you might easily be convinced Assad’s only goal was to kill every single Syrian residing in the country.

The terrorists, by contrast, despite voluminous accounts of atrocities, wholesale slaughter, beheadings, rapes, and torture, were “freedom fighters,” “peaceful protesters,” “rebels,” and the “Syrian opposition.” They never killed anyone except in self-defense and only wanted freedom and prosperity for all.

This was the mainstream media account from Western countries but it wasn’t at all the truth.

Over those 13 years, the alternative media revealed and, in some instances, even forced the mainstream media to reveal, the level of horror these terrorists inflicted upon the Syrian people. In fact, as time went on, the idea that the “opposition” was anything but a ruthless gaggle of religious extremists became something western governments were less and less able to peddle successfully. But they gave it a good college try. That is, in between the moments where they admitted the terrorist nature of the “opposition” in order to justify bombing various targets in Syria.

During the course of this 13 year war, however, the alternative media was successfully purged from the scene due to changes in online search algorithms (reducing visibility), massive purging on social media platforms, and a campaign labeling anyone countering the State Department nonsense as “disinformation,” or “malinformation.” As a result, MSM was largely allowed to continue peddling its propaganda with little challenge and only those who were savvy enough to discover new media outlets during the short window of competitive alternative press were able to obtain a different view.

All Signs Point To Major Deal By World Powers Over Syria

Brandon Turbeville
BrandonTurbeville.com
December 19, 2024

For 13 years, the Syrian Army fought valiantly, and terrorists backed by Israeli, Turkish, and American air power were beaten back and held to a standstill. Then, all of a sudden, in a matter of three days, terrorists led by Hayit Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) overran first Aleppo, then every other major city in Syria. They met little to no resistance save for a few bombs launched toward Idlib by the Syrian and Russian Air Force battalions who didn’t get the memo that they were not supposed to do anything to stop the onslaught. According to some reports, these fighters captured Damascus in about 60 seconds. The lighting speed of the terrorist operation caught everyone by surprise, even those of us who have paid close attention to the conflict for years.

The Syrian Army didn’t run. They were ordered to stand down.

Bashar al-Assad fled Syria with his family and headed, allegedly, to Moscow. Syria - its military and civilians – were left to the mercy of some of the most merciless fighters of the 21st Century.

Abu Mohammed al-Julani, the leader of HTS (aka, al-Qaeda, Al-Nusra Front, Jobhat al-Nusra) is now giving speeches from the Umayyad Mosque while green flag waving militants fire wildly into the air in celebration. The Presidential Palace has been looted and the statue of Hafez al-Assad has been torn down, dragged through the street, and beheaded.

The entirety of the Sednaya prison has now been emptied. Sednaya contained large numbers of terrorists who are now roaming free but it also contained innocent people who never should have been caged in the first place.

Millions of Syrians - some who supported the government, some who were apolitical – are now in fear for their lives, waiting to hear if they must be veiled or if the new “government” will simply exterminate them.

If one observes the proceedings of the previous week, it is beyond clear that an international deal was made between Russia, the United States, Turkey, Israel, Assad, Hezbollah, and leader of the army of fighters inside Syrian territory.

Aleppo Has Fallen - Damascus, Homs In Terrorist Sights

Brandon Turbeville
BrandonTurbeville.com
12/7/2024

In what seems like out of nowhere, years of stalemate between the Syrian government and the terrorists known by mainstream media channels and Western governments as the “Syrian opposition” was broken by a massive push on the part of terrorist forces toward Aleppo. After capturing numerous areas surrounding the city, Aleppo itself was overrun.

It seemed like no one saw the terrorist onslaught coming and, when they did, it doesn’t appear that anyone – Syria, Hezbollah, Iranian-backed militias, or Russian forces – could stop them. The terrorists took only hours to capture what it took Syrian forces years to liberate.

Now, with the city of Aleppo once again teeming with the extremists of ISIS, Al-Nusra Front, and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, these same terrorists are now knocking loudly on the doors of Damascus and Homs as well. Indeed, the Syrian government has not found itself in such dire straits since the beginning of the conflict in 2011. Once again, Western governments and mainstream media outlets are discussing the potential “fall of Assad” almost as if the “fall” is a foregone conclusion.

If Assad does fall, it will be a massive boon to Israel which has long desired to break the “Shiite Crescent,” the land bridge between Iran and Lebanon that runs through Iraq and Syria, allowing Iran to ship equipment and personnel back and forth to the Israeli border. It will also have succeeded in removing a government unwilling to cooperate with its projects or look the other way in regards to its war on the Palestinian people and its desires for a “Greater Israel.” In addition, a neighbor of petty, squabbling micro states of extremists has long been the desire of the Israeli government since weak extremists, to Israel, is more palatable than a strong secular one.

Seymour Hersh Releases Leaked Pentagon/DIA Document - One More Nail In The Coffin Of Western Gov't Official Story Of Syria Chemical Weapons Claims

Brandon Turbeville
November 3, 2023

With absolutely no fanfare in either the alternative or mainstream media, veteran journalist Seymour Hersh has released a leaked Pentagon/DIA assessment of the chemical warfare capability of Jobhat al-Nusra/Al-Nusra Front (also known as Al-Qaeda), a fact that Western governments and Western media simply would not admit during their "chemical weapons" propaganda volley against the Syrian government. The document is from June 20, 2013.

The documents were released in Hersh's article entitled "When the Intelligence is Inconvenient" and can be found on his Substack page. The entire article can be read in full with a subscription.

A brief excerpt from the article reads:

On Sunday Secretary of State Antony Blinken told Jonathan Karl of ABC’s This Week that he remained “very confident in Ukraine’s ultimate success” in the ongoing war with Russia. He depicted Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky’s decision to escalate its attacks inside Russia as “their decision, not ours.”

Blinken’s wrong-headed confidence and his acceptance of a significant escalation in the Ukraine war defies belief, given the reality on the ground today in the war. But it also could be based on insanely optimistic assessments supplied by the Defense Intelligence Agency. The DIA’s assessments, as I have reported, are now the intelligence of choice inside the White House.

As a journalist who has written about national security matters for many decades, how can I explain a process that is clearly contrary to the best interests of the people of the United States and its leadership?

More importantly than Hersh's quotes, however, are the quotes from the DIA assessment itself.

Protests In Suweida Reminiscent Of 2011 - Who Is Behind Them?

Brandon Turbeville
October 24, 2023

Twelve years after the initiation of the Western backed destabilization in Syria, it appears the Western intelligence and military apparatus is once again attempting to stir up a "popular" revolution against the government of Bashar al-Assad. This time, however, not only do they continue to use their proxy fighters in the form of terrorists and Kurdish fanatics, they are also attempting to use the domestic population to further fracture Syrian society.

Having suffered through over a dozen years of horrific warfare that saw their country largely destroyed and an almost unimaginable loss of life, Syrians were then saddled with American (and thus Western) sanctions that have brought the entire Syrian economy to a halt, causing as much suffering as the war itself at least in terms of living standards for the average Syrian.

With the frontlines largely quiet except for daily shelling and occasional airstrikes, Syrians are forced to reckon with the fact that, even with the guns silent, their lives will not return to normal or to any sense of normalcy. Basic necessities like electricity, fuel, medical care, and food are are scarce and have been scarce for some time. Certainly, they have been scarce long enough for the words of their government to "hold on just a little longer" to start feeling hollow. Indeed, starving Syrians have begun to look at Syrian government officials whose lives do continue on as normal with the resentful eyes of the hungry that only someone with an empty belly can truly understand.

This resentment is what Western powers are attempting to take advantage of.

From Mark Taliano's article, "Video: Crimes Against Syria:"
Washington-led Empire’s criminal war on Syria is a war against civilization itself.

Empire, with its legacy media accomplices, hides behind veils of fabricated lies to commit crimes against children, women, men, Muslims, Christians, minorities, secularism, democracy, and the entire fabric of the sovereign nation of Syria itself.

Empire balkanizes, steals, loots, plunders, and supports terrorism of all kinds, even as it imposes colllective punishment in the form of unilateral coercive measures against those in government-secured areas.

Brandon Turbeville Brief Interview With Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Florence, SC

Brandon Turbeville
August 21, 2023

Despite very little mainstream media coverage of the Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Presidential Campaign, Kennedy is still attracting large in-person crowds as well as large audiences in the podcast world as his run for the Presidential Nominee of the Democratic Party continues. Mr. Kennedy's goal is a lofty one - unseating an incumbent President in a party whose nomination process is notoriously corrupt. But there is no doubt he believes he is up to the challenge and recent polls within the Democratic Party indicate he might be right. Kennedy has consistently polled in the 20% range despite a mainstream media blackout and a refusal by Joe Biden to debate or even acknowledge him.

On August 20, 2023, I had the opportunity to attend a Meet and Greet Townhall campaign event for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in Florence, SC where I was able to listen to Kennedy's near hour long talk where he touched on almost every aspect of his campaign - his vision for America, the economy, foreign policy, the environment, and the corporate stranglehold over American regulatory agencies. Kennedy also spoke at length about how super wealthy corporations like BlackRock are buying up American homes, driving up housing prices and, as a result, rent as well as depriving American citizens the ability to own their own homes.

With about 75 people in attendance - a decent turnout for a campaign event in Florence, particularly one that has no mainstream media coverage ahead of time - Kennedy was eager to take pictures and talk with every attendee. Kennedy took plenty of time to sign books and discuss specific issues with anyone who had something they wanted to know more about regarding his platform points, his research and activism, or just a word with the candidate himself.

Meanwhile, WW3 May Be Brewing While We’re Distracted

Brandon Turbeville
April 14, 2020

Those who are paying close attention to the pandemic may have missed that another potential killer is brewing across the ocean. In Syria today, there is the real and looming threat of a third world war. Not only is Syria fighting Western-backed terrorists on its territory, there are many more players involved on Syrian soil – from the Russians and Iranians to the Americans, Turks, and Israelis and, with the recent Turkish actions, all of those players could very well come to blows.

It’s well-known to geopolitical scholars that the world is already in global conflict. With the United States, NATO, Israel, EU, and the Gulf States loosely united against the “multi-polar” world of Russia, China, Iran and a growing host of “target” nations that prefer the carrot over the stick, the globe is already in a quiet world war, though the major powers have yet to publicly declare it on one another. As it stands currently, the global conflict is more akin to the Cold War where color revolutions and proxy wars are the order of the day. However, the quiet war can only remain quiet for so long, until one side begins to see that it is the inevitable loser. Then the quiet war becomes loud.

When the Western powers initiated the war against Syria in 2011, it was largely expected and intended to go the way of the Libyan disaster that just ended. However, with the unity of Syrian culture, Syrian government leadership and, most importantly, Russia entering into the war on the side of the Syrian government, the quick destruction of the Syrian state has resulted in a nine year war that has seen Syria turn the tide on the largest and most effective military state in the world.

But while Syria has been defeating Western backed terrorists on its own territory, there are a number of players now involved in the country that could very well find themselves in direct confrontation with one another, leading their proxy forces into a larger much more destructive and global war.

Summation of events

After having dispatched troops to the terrorist haven of Idlib, Syria as the Syrian military engaged in a massive push to liberate the region. Turkey has since come to the rescue of the embattled terrorists, launching drone attacks, airstrikes, and ground forces into Syrian territory.

Current Conflict In Syria Is Nothing New - Plan Goes Back To 1983

Brandon Turbeville
Activist Post
March 7, 2020

While the majority of Americans have been focused on the spread of COVID-19, they may have missed the fact that Turkey has all but declared a war and invaded Syria. After having dispatched troops to the terrorist haven of Idlib, Syria as the Syrian military engaged in a massive push to liberate the region. Turkey has since come to the rescue of the embattled terrorists, launching drone attacks, airstrikes, and ground forces into Syrian territory.

Turkey established a number of "observation points," that the Syrian military, during the process of liberation early on in the Battle of Idlib, surrounded. The Syrian military did not disturb these posts or harm any Turkish soldiers.

However, that all changed when the Syrian and Russian air forces began bombing terrorist targets. Those airstrikes killed a number of Turkish soldiers who had been embedded with terrorist groups. Turkey then played victim and Erdogan sent more Turkish soldiers and engaged in airstrikes against the Syrian military. Later, another Syrian airstrikes killed yet more Turkish soldiers who were also embedded with terrorists, resulting in a forceful Turkish response of drone attacks and airstrikes and the further progression of Turkish troops onto Syrian soil.

Syria managed to shoot down a number of Turkish drones but other airstrikes have since avoided hits from the Syrian air defenses.

Israel has also stepped up its attacks on Syria, claiming to be targeting "Iranian" assets but really attacking forces assisting Syria in the fight against terrorism. In fact, Israel recently announced that it has a plan to remove Iran from Syria in the next 12 months.

Thus, with Turkey attacking from the North and Israel attacking from the Southwest and, of course, the American troop presence in the Northeast, Syria is now facing a multi-front war."

The strategy being implemented by the Western establishment (here, specifically Turkey and Israel) is identical to the one proposed by the Brookings Institution in its document “Middle East Memo #21: Saving Syria: Assessing Options For Regime Change,” where it says,

How the SHTF in Syria: What It’s REALLY Like to Survive a Long-Term War

The Organic Prepper
February 26, 2020

In 2003, young Syrians sat in their living rooms and watched the Americans roll into Iraq amid missiles, bombs, and the requisite "Shock and Awe." This was not the first experience their country had with America's war machine in the region but it was the first time this generation had seen the war with the eyes of adults. Iraq, after all, was not Afghanistan. It was practically next door.

The invasion and subsequent war were bad enough. The occupation, however, was even worse. While Americans were being fed faked videos of celebrating Iraqis pulling down the statues of Saddam Hussein, Syrian media was showing a more accurate version of events; i.e.  the US military terrorizing, killing, and maiming the Iraqi people.

2006 came around and these same Syrians witnessed Iraq fall in to chaos. Iraqis were no longer united against the American invader, they were divided Sunni against Shi'ite, Muslim against Christian, territory against territory. As the Pentagon sat back, pleased in the chaos it had created, Syrians sat in dismay at how the Iraqis could descend into civil war, particularly when the clear enemy was on its soil and flying its enemy flag.

Most of all, Syrians were grateful. "Thank God," they said. "Thank God we live here and we don't have to deal with war."  One Syrian girl told me, "At the time, all I could think was how horrible it must be to live through something like that. I was so glad to live in Syria. I couldn't imagine war coming here."

In 2011, the US occupation had built one of the largest embassies in the world. The Iraqi state was weak and squabbling but effectively acting as a caretaker government under the watchful eye of the American empire. The feeling and opposition to America's presence in Iraq was still there as was the knowledge that Syria was on the list to be destroyed. Syrians had heard Wesley Clark list also and, besides, they already knew Syria was on the chopping block if Washington, Tel Aviv, and the powers behind them ever had their way and the guts they would need to start the war. However, Syria was not Iraq.

Photos From Final Liberation of Aleppo Demonstrates How MSM Narrative Was False All Along

Western mainstream media outlets simply cannot show the results of the recent liberation of Western Aleppo in Syria without first doing much editing and damage control work on the television screen. While Western outlets continue the tired line that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is "killing his own people" and that the poor democracy-loving "freedom fighters" armed, trained, and directed by the Western powers are nothing more than victims, scenes from Syria easily challenge any perceptions western audiences may have had regarding recent events there. In fact, any claims that the Syrian people are opposed to the government's liberation of Syrian territory is completely rebuffed with the pictures currently coming out of Aleppo.
