South Carolina Moves to Implement Agenda 21 Guidelines

In an example of just how deep the roots of Agenda 21 can reach, it is now obvious that the UN-generated guidelines are making their way through state legislatures as well as the federal branch. Not only that, but such legislation has expanded from inside the boundaries of the usual suspects like California and New York, and is now even reaching into southern states like South Carolina, which have traditionally been opposed to such policies.

For those who are unaware, Agenda 21 (short for United Nations Agenda For The 21st Century) is a road map of guidelines and procedures dictated from the United Nations and implemented by the member states. In the case of the United States, the plans are implemented at the state and local level when Federal support is not adequate to meet the demands set forth by the United Nations and its affiliate NGOs. As Democrats Against Agenda 21 state on their website,
In a nutshell, the plan calls for governments to take control of all land use and not leave any of the decision making in the hands of private property owners.  It is assumed that people are not good stewards of their land and the government will do a better job if they are in control.  Individual rights in general are to give way to the needs of communities as determined by the governing body.  Moreover, people should be rounded up off the land and packed into human settlements, or islands of human habitation, close to employment centers and transportation.  Another program, called the Wildlands Project spells out how most of the land is to be set aside for non-humans.
This definition seems to fit a new resolution in the South Carolina State Congress, entitled the Commercial Center Retrofit Act, or. H.3604. Indeed, much of the bill reads as almost a direct translation of the mission of Agenda 21.

The Commercial Center Retrofit Act, now in Congressional subcommittee, has been introduced under the cover of merely encouraging the South Carolina Council of Governments to adopt ordinances and guidelines that will “enable the retrofitting of shopping malls and shopping centers into dense, walkable, mixed-use town centers.”

Now, let me first say that this idea, in and of itself, is not such a bad thing. Allowing and encouraging the retrofitting of buildings so that they use less energy, have less impact on the environment, and blend in with the rest of the community is actually something that should be encouraged. However, the Commercial Center Retrofit Act is not about encouraging such “green” improvements and environmentally-conscious building. This new resolution is solely dedicated to the implementation of Agenda 21.

It also bears noting that the South Carolina Council of Governments is an unelected body made up of regional “local” governments. Each sub-council within the larger council is made up of a grouping of local governments belonging to a specific region of the state. This body is not accountable to the people of South Carolina, yet they are clearly involved in making very important decisions.

With this in mind, it is not surprising that the Commercial Center Retrofit Act contains language right out of the Agenda 21 playbook. For instance, the preamble to the bill reads:
To encourage the South Carolina Council of Governments to adopt ordinances intended to enable the retrofitting of shopping malls and shopping centers into dense, walkable, mixed-use town centers, and to encourage other measures to promote a human habitat that is hospitable and accessible to more South Carolinians while lessening environmental impacts on the state.
Immediately, it is obvious that the scope of the bill extends far beyond simple ordinances for shopping centers. Now the bill includes “other measures,” which are cleverly undefined, that will be used to determine what type of “human habitat” will be allowed in the state. The end goal, at first, appears to be the development of a “human habitat” that lessens the “environmental impact” the future tenants allegedly have.

Yet, compared to the rest of the bill, the preamble is really no big deal.

Of course, to an individual unfamiliar with Agenda 21, the Commercial Center Retrofit Act might not sound so bad. However, when one is able to decipher the language of “sustainable development” and other such terms, the new resolution sounds much more sinister. Indeed, this piece of legislation represents a threat to both businesses and individuals alike, particularly private property owners.

Essentially, this resolution communicates a directive to the South Carolina Council of Governments to begin plans for drafting and administering a society that excludes rural areas, creates centralized and compact “human habitat” areas, and discourages use of vehicles and other equipment that allegedly produce “greenhouse gases.”

For instance, the resolution states that “the State of South Carolina aspires to retrofit its inventory of automobile dependent settlement patterns into compact, walkable, diverse, and transit ready communities that are more socially equitable, consume less petroleum, and generate fewer greenhouse gases.”

The resolution’s bias against automobiles and citizen independence is then justified by the claim that “the public servicing of automobile dependent settlement patterns disproportionately consumes the tax base of South Carolina municipalities.”

This is the blueprint, at first, to evacuate rural areas into the urban districts due to claims of lack of available services, accessibility, and higher taxes. Coercion and force, as evidenced by current actions in Africa, will eventually replace “encouragement” and the gradual approach witnessed at the beginning of plans like the Commercial Center Retrofit Act.

Laughably, the resolution pretends it is responding to social demand when it says that “the Millennial Generation, the second largest group and the most important to the future workforce of South Carolina, has show a preference to urban areas” and that “the Baby Boom Generation, the largest demographic group among South Carolina residents, will not be well served by being able to live only in automobile dependent suburban areas.”

Of course, young people are streaming into cities in droves not necessarily because they like city life, but because American jobs, particularly those once located in South Carolina, have been shipped overseas by design. Young Americans, if they have any desire to hold a job, have little choice but to relocate to larger cities.

As for the Baby Boom Generation, one might ask exactly why they can’t be well-served by living in rural areas? Considering the rate of crime and state of disrepair in most major American cities, one can scarcely see a benefit to living in an urban area at all, particularly for the aged.  Plus, they have been well-served in these areas for many years so one wonders just what kind of services the resolution is referring to?

The resolution continues in regard to rural areas by saying, “the existing investment in automobile dependent settlement patterns must not be allowed to become uncompetitive and thereby lose value.” While sounding overly broad and murky at first reading, the fact that this statement is left open to the imagination is no accident. This is because, when it is read through the interpretive lens of Agenda 21, the picture comes into much clearer focus.

Because hard definitions are not provided, one must ask what “existing investment” actually means in this context.  Also, who does this investment belong to? The taxpayer? The Government? The NGO’s representing the United Nations and Agenda 21? In addition, why must these areas be kept “competitive” in the first place? Why is it necessary for a rural area, which is only a designation based on demographics, to compete at all? If it is necessary for the area to compete, with whom is the area to engage in competition? What are the goals and what are the signs of winning or losing?

Most importantly, however, is the question surrounding just what is to be done regarding these alleged problems. How does the resolution and the plans resulting from it intend to prevent these areas from becoming insolvent investments if they fail to compete? If one is to take a traditional business strategy as a model, then there are only two options for the manager – invest in upgrades or sell off the asset.

For all the talk about sustainability and earth-friendly living, one can easily see that Agenda 21-style legislation such as this resolution is not about protecting the environment. For instance, in its attempt to recreate and retrofit shopping malls into “town centers,” the resolution touts a possible benefit to the change by saying that they “may revitalize the housing subdivisions around them that might otherwise become obsolete.”

This is ironic considering that subdivisions, aside from major apartment complexes, are one of the most environmentally destructive and unnatural living setups in the United States. Ironic, that is, if the environment were really what this resolution is concerned with. Obviously, subdivisions are, if nothing else, excellent ways of forcing humans to live in neat cookie-cutter housing units where they will grouped according to functional status.

As I stated earlier in this article, shopping malls are not the only areas that fall under this resolution; and neither are subdivisions. Indeed, the entire local area - urban and rural alike - falls prey to the locally-introduced Agenda 21-based legislation. This can be seen in the five-point plan which the South Carolina Council of Governments is urged to enact. It is as follows:
  1. Draft policy and corresponding model ordinances intended to enable the retrofitting of shopping malls and shopping centers into dense, walkable, mixed-use town centers;
  2. Establish protocols that encourage the incorporation of the model policy and ordinances into municipal zoning codes and subdivision regulations;
  3.  Incorporate the associated policies into the updates or amendments of local comprehensive plans;
  4. Develop urban complete streets in cooperation with the South Carolina Department of Transportation to serve these centers with a balanced, diverse set of travel modes; and
  5. Develop a set of legal incentives including, but not limited to, permitting by rights, replacing traffic impact exactions, and other state mandated assessments with a fair mobility fee, creating special state taxing districts for public improvements to sites, and funding for design and construction of the parking and transit infrastructure.
As one can see from the sections in bold, this plan is clearly designed to use the power of government to implement Agenda 21. Thus, the plan manifests itself in the form of local zoning regulations, laws, and taxation, unbeknownst to the victims at the bottom. Even the language of the resolution with terms like “human habitat” and “human settlements” directly reflects the nature and semantics of the United Nations.

Agenda 21 has long been creeping up on the American people by stealth via organizations like the International Council on Local Environmental Initiatives. The ICLEI, also known as Local Governments For Sustainability, is an organization that is made up of over a thousand local governments (the majority being from the United States) who have bypassed Federal and State law as well as the Constitution in order to implement Agenda 21 policies.

South Carolina has four major cities on the ICLEI list – Charleston, Columbia, Spartanburg, and Greenville. In addition, Councils of Governments, like the South Carolina Council of Governments, are established worldwide and work with each other through unelected and unaccountable bureaucrats outside of Constitutional process and law.

I urge all South Carolinians to contact their State Senators and Representatives and demand that they oppose this bill. States such as Texas and Tennessee have taken recent action to expose the real meaning of Agenda 21 and preserve their local sovereignty.  South Carolina certainly can do the same.

You can find your legislator by using this helpful search engine provided by the South Carolina State House.

Goldman Sachs Tied to the Sordid World of the Monied Elite

Brandon Turbeville
Activist Post
April 19, 2012
If anyone ever doubted that Goldman Sachs could get any sleazier than the reputation the institution has garnered over the last few years, recent discoveries regarding the major bank’s ties to underage prostitution have served to aid in sullying the name even further.

Earlier this month, Nicholas Kristof of the New York Times revealed in his article, “Financiers and Sex Trafficking,” that Goldman Sachs was a 16% stakeholder in one of the biggest public sex trafficking forums in the United States – Backpage.com.

I say “public sex trafficking forums” because Backpage is obviously publicly accessible, while more hardcore and illegal activities are clearly hidden from the view of the general citizen. This is because many of the patrons of such operations tend to be the very wealthy in addition to the average run-of-the-mill sexual deviant living in his basement who might be more likely to consult Backpage for its services.

For those unfamiliar with the story, Backpage is a website that provides ads for “escort services” all across the United States and in most metropolitan cities. Of course, many of these ads are placed and answered by consenting adults. However, it is also true that there is a great deal of evidence to show that Backpage plays a role in trafficking minors and women coerced into prostitution.

Interestingly enough, Backpage is owned by Village Voice Media (VVM), which also owns the Village Voice, SF Weekly, and LA Weekly. VVM is also the company where Goldman Sachs held about 16% of stock. Not only that, but Scott L. Lebovitz, who was a Goldman Sachs managing director who Goldman claims stepped down in 2010, sat on the Village Voice Media board for years.

These reports triggered a cascade of protests from members of the anti-trafficking and religious communities, as well as calls from U.S. Senators for Village Voice Media to shut down the Backpage website.

After the New York Times' expose, Goldman Sachs sold their holdings in Village Voice Media and, by and large, the bank has once again escaped large-scale criticism. Yet the revelation that the bank would maintain such holdings in VVM with the knowledge that Backpage has been engaging in under-age prostitution and coerced-sex workers does lift the veil slightly to the underworld of sex trafficking.

Of course, it should be noted that the issue at hand is not prostitution. Clearly, an adult should have the right to use their own body as they see fit. The issue is the trafficking of children, minors, or women who are forced or coerced into the industry.

Yet the connection to VVM is not the only connection to sex slavery that Goldman Sachs has kept. In 2010, when DynCorp was being bought out by Cerberus, it was Goldman Sachs that acted as a financial adviser and facilitated the transaction between the two companies.

For those who are unaware, it was revealed in 2003 that DynCorp was involved in the trafficking of young women and children as sex slaves, all while maintaining the U.S. Government contract to administer the smallpox vaccine. Then Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld, was actually grilled about this incident by Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney in 2005.

DynCorp was once again shown to have connections to child sex slavery when, in 2009, it was found that the corporation was providing “dancing boys” to Afghan police.

Back in 1999, it was revealed that DynCorp was found to be involved in the operation of a child sex slavery ring in Bosnia. The Corporation was engaged in the pimping and raping of girls as young as 12 years old from countries such as Ukraine, Moldova, and Romania.

Although the connections that Goldman holds to either VVM or DynCorp are not direct in the same sense of the private military giant and Backpage themselves, we can see slight hints of the hidden world of child sex slavery that reaches far into the upper reaches of society. Now and then, we are given brief glimpses into the black hole where thousands of children disappear every year to be abused and tortured not just by the pedophile on the street corner, but by the world’s wealthiest elite.

From cases like that of Hollie Greig, to those related to former President George H.W. Bush, there is the constant trend of the monied elite and their obsession with the sexual abuse of children. It is imperative that whistleblowers and journalists continue to expose these activities.

FBI targets animal rights groups to inform on fellow activists

Brandon Turbeville
Activist Post
April 18, 2012

For years, those who have spoken out about various freedom-crushing laws and policies coming from the Federal and State government were called conspiracy theorists when they suggested that these laws would eventually be applied to average law-abiding citizens.

Day by day, however, it is made increasingly clear that such concern is no mere theory. It is now painfully obvious that law-abiding citizens are the main target, while the shadowy, CIA-funded Al-Qaeda takes a back seat (when it is not needed to stir up support for more draconian legislation or regime change, that is).

This was a fact that Dallas Rising, program director for “Animal Rights Coalition” recently learned when her Minneapolis-based organization was visited by two FBI agents. Rising was taken aback when the two agents walked into the storefront office, flipped open their badges, and announced that they were with the FBI.

When the agent, who identified himself as Steve Molesky, asked Rising if he and his partner could speak to her, she told them no and then called her boss to confirm that the position of the group was to having nothing to do with the FBI. Once this was confirmed, she asked the agents to leave.

But the agent told her she didn’t need to talk to them, they had something to say to her.

According to Rising, “He said, ‘I understand why you would be reluctant to talk to me and I get that, and we, as the FBI, have close relationships with animal enterprises . . . but we don’t just work for those big companies, we work for all the people.”

Molesky attempted to assure Rising multiple times that the FBI didn’t “want to stifle anyone’s First Amendment rights.” He also stated that he wanted to work with her as a “liaison.”

Elizabeth Pauling, Molesky’s partner and FBI analyst, stated that this meant if anyone were to contact Rising regarding information or evidence regarding animal welfare violations, she would tell the FBI about the establishment being reported and the FBI would subsequently urge the USDA to investigate.

Rising, correctly sensing a trap, asked if “liaison” were not just another word for “informant”? According to Rising, Molesky said that it wasn’t the same, the difference being that “if Jack and Jill come to you with information, what a liaison would do is let the FBI know where that farm is, while an informant would let the FBI know who Jack and Jill are.” That way, he said, “your concerns are addressed and nobody needs to break the law.”

Interestingly enough, the visit by the FBI agents to the Minneapolis Animal Rights Coalition comes on the heels of two other very bizarre encounters with alleged animal rights “activists” who were encouraging and attempting to use both violent and illegal tactics. Rising stated that about a week before, an individual called the office saying that he was aware of a farm in Wisconsin that was abusing animals. He told her he wanted to “get in there” using Animal Liberation Front tactics and that he wanted the help of the Animal Rights Coalition to do so.

Just a few days before that, a new “activist” had attended an activist training session and began asking other attendees how they felt about blowing up buildings and killing people. In both cases, the individuals were clearly told that the Animal Rights Coalition did not engage in and were not interested in any illegal activity.

And it’s a good thing they were told. Both of these incidents are tell-tale signs of FBI-agent provocateur-style entrapment and the infiltration of legitimate groups with government agents. Much like the infiltration of peaceful protestors by the Black Bloc, these individuals have no other purpose than to associate themselves with a group, encourage others to agree (not necessarily participate) to illegal activity, and to sink the entire group when this behavior is inevitably “discovered.”

It is very likely that these agents will be “reaching out” to other groups and organizations in the near future. In fact, it is almost a guarantee that they already have and that many organizations have accepted the offer. Nevertheless, any activist should be aware that changing a word or a name does not change the act. Calling an informant a “liaison” does not make the person any less of an informant.

As Will Potter of GreenIsTheNewRed writes, “In other words, activists should know that there is no such thing as providing the FBI with innocuous information. Drawing a distinction between a 'liaison' and an 'informant' is clever, but keep in mind that this is the same FBI that says undercover investigators can be prosecuted as terrorists.”

Potter also correctly observes:
The FBI has a long history of using informants to surveil, harass, disrupt, and entrap political activists. As I’ve documented at length on this website, the heavy-handed tactics of the COINTELPRO era have not disappeared – they have been repackaged as counter-terrorism efforts. This may take the form of threatening activists in hopes they will become informants (as I experienced personally), or attempting to infiltrate vegan potlucks. In the case of Eric McDavid, an undercover FBI informant named “Anna” repeatedly attempted to coerce him and others into illegal activity. He refused, and yet was sentenced to nearly 20 years in prison on conspiracy charges.
So is this emphasis on “liaisons” a reflection of a kinder, gentler FBI? Not likely.

Keep in mind that these types of incidents are occurring shortly after the introduction and passage of various “Ag Gag” bills, which criminalize the videotaping or audio recording of animal cruelty taking place in “animal production facilities.” This new crime is now dubbed “animal interference.”

One such bill has already passed in Iowa with similar bills being introduced in several other states such as Utah, Nebraska, Minnesota, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Florida, and New York.

Geometric Modulation - Increasing the Power of HAARP?

Brandon Turbeville
Activist Post
April 16, 2012

As tornadoes complete their march through America’s heartland, and earthquakes rattle the planet, questions as to the nature of these events are being raised anew, particularly among those aware of the capabilities of HAARP technology. Indeed, the more one understands about the levels of technological development achieved in the upper reaches of government and elitist corporations, the more one is forced to question what previously could be taken for granted as a natural occurrence.

Nevertheless, the very concept of man-made weather is simply too much for many stuck in mainstream tunnel vision to grasp. Admittedly, those of us not actually involved in the project, as a result of overwhelming secrecy and blatant refusal to divulge any real information on the HAARP system, are left to much speculation.

Some individuals may claim that HAARP is incapable of producing large-scale events. Others, however, find a way to blame virtually every natural disaster on the technology. In the end, the truth likely sits somewhere in between.

Regardless, there are individuals who have done amazing amounts of good research regarding HAARP with very little resources at their disposal. Obviously, these researchers have developed their own terminology and designation for the anomalies surrounding weather and HAARP events.

Specifically, terms like “Scalar Squares,” “HAARP Rings,” and “Stairstep Patterns” have become accepted nomenclature for many who follow the HAARP system and its effects on weather patterns and the environment.

These terms have become highly used in HAARP-related videos on YouTube and, unfortunately, are the subject of much ridicule by those still ignorant of scientific advancements. More often than not, the very concept of using these types of “patterns,” or even the technology itself, is rejected as tinfoil hat-wearing conspiracy theory.

However, the folks at Sincedutch have produced a paper published in the journal Geophysical Research Letters by researchers working on a grant presented to Stanford University by the Office of Naval Research regarding the efficacy of a new type of ELF/VLF wave generation. This new method of wave generation – using HAARP itself – is called “geometric modulation” due to the use of geometric patterns for wave generation.

As the paper entitled, “Geometric modulation: A more effective method of steerable ELF/VLF wave generation with continuous HF heating of the lower ionosphere,” states, geometric modulation is a “new method of ELF/VLF wave generation, . . . involving the scanning the HF heating beam in a geometric pattern without modulating its power.”

In the second section of the paper designated “Experimental Setup,” the researchers describe the three main types of geometric modulation patterns used which are subsequently labeled:
  • line-sweep, defined as “where the heating beam scans back and forth along a chosen azimuth, completing a full back and forth scan . . . in one ELF/VLF period;”
  • sawtooth-sweep, defined as “where the heating beam scans along one chosen azimuth, completing one sweep across the path in one ELF/VLF period and starting back at the initial end;” and
  • circle-sweep, defined as “where the heated beam follows a circular pattern with some radius. . .”

As Sincedutch points out, these designations closely parallel those being used in the alternative media/research communities. Interestingly enough, the terms provided by the independent researchers were largely gleaned from radar signatures, which might explain why the terms are so similar without one side being privy to the other. The name might be slightly different – i.e. HAARP Rings=Circle Sweep, Scalar Squares=Square Waves, and Stairstep Patterns=Sawtooth Sweeps – but the pattern remains the same.

This demonstrates, among other things, that many independent researchers have been on target for some time, even as the mainstream has attempted to demonize and ridicule them into obscurity.

One other interesting piece of information provided by this paper is the reasoning behind the use of geometric modulation in the first place. According to the researchers,
Furthermore, since amplitudes of ELF/VLF signals generated via modulated HF heating as observed on the ground are roughly proportional to total HF power delivered to the ionosphere [Barr and Stubbe, 1991], with some variations resulting from a saturation mechanism at these power levels [Moore et al., 2006] the 7-11 dB enhancement exceeds the 6dB enhancement that would be expected by simply doubling the power of HAARP.
Translating this information into English simply means that geometric modulation is capable of significantly enhancing the HF power projected into the ionosphere, not merely upping the power of the HAARP station itself.

As the paper states in the “Conclusion,”
Near HAARP, GM is less effective than AM below 2kHz, but more effective above 3 kHz. For long distance observations, GM consistently produces substantially stronger signals than AM for ELF/VLF frequencies above 3 kHZ, by as much as 7-11 dB. In addition, GM can lead to the creation of an unprecedented ELF phased array, capable of directed radiation at different azimuths within the EIW.
Again, this means that geometric modulation, given the right circumstances, can be used to drastically increase the ELF powers of HAARP and such related technology.

The paper cited above was published in 2008. However, projects such as HAARP are not quite as new as many might think. I have said before in many of my articles that if the general public is made aware of any new type of research, then the truth is that the technology they are being introduced to is now obsolete. We can safely assume that HAARP and projects like it are at least 50 years ahead of what many so-called “conspiracy theorists” take them to be, much less the mainstream commentators (where they exist).

After all, keep in mind that the paper cited in this article actually cites a previous study where ELF/VLF wave generation was demonstrated in a HAARP-like experiment of its own . . . That study took place in 1974.

Chinese Troops Reportedly Amassing Near US-Mexico Border

Brandon Turbeville
April 12, 2012
Activist Post

If recent accounts coming from some in the alternative media are to be believed, then Operation Fast & Furious may soon give way to an even bigger story surrounding the U.S./Mexico border. Indeed, even the notorious Mexican drug cartels might find themselves taking a back seat.

This is because claims are now being made suggesting the major presence of Chinese troops stationed inside Mexico, both along the U.S. border and the port areas.

The first question, of course, is whether or not this information is accurate. If it is, the second question immediately becomes, “why?”

Unfortunately, however, all the information we have currently comes from anonymous sources who have yet to be verified in terms of their reliability.

The reports currently garnering the most attention are those coming from Steve Quayle of the Q-Files Radio Show who recently interviewed a cross-border trucker who claims to have actually seen a major Chinese military base inside Mexico.

The trucker claims he was delivering a trailer load of food to a military camp 60 miles south of Laredo, Texas. As he was entering Mexico, he says he was escorted into the country by the Mexican Federal Police to protect the truck from hijackings and robbery.

The camp itself, according to the trucker, was about 2 miles wide and 3 miles long and was staffed by Chinese soldiers complete with armored vehicles and living quarters constructed from refurbished shipping containers. As his truck was being unloaded by the soldiers, he claims he was able to count the armored vehicles parked neatly in rows. According to the trucker, there were 10,000 armored vehicles located in this facility. He also claims that there were water tanks, generators, and communications complexes.

After this report and based upon the information given by the trucker as well as the geographical knowledge available to him through other individuals, Quayle claims he enlisted his own source which he refers to as “Cross Border Eyes,” to go to the area which was the most likely location for the Chinese base. This area was determined to be in the triangle between Sabinas Hidalgo, Lampazos de Naranjos, and Arroyo Blanco.

Upon entering the area, “Cross Border Eyes” claims he immediately noticed large numbers of Mexican Federal Police in many different types of vehicles, including some that were painted “that odd green characteristic of Red Chinese vehicles.” “Cross Border Eyes” then claims that he tried numerous other entrances to the triangular region by other roads, tracks, etc. but, at each location, there were massive levels of Federal Police on patrol. He is quoted as saying, “it was like you stuck a firecracker into a red ant hole and blew it, and you know how all the red ants come up out of the hole . . .”

Quayle also reported on the same day that High Frequency communications were being broadcast on U.S. military frequencies carrying with them “heavily oriental accented operators speaking broken English in direct communications with Conus [Continental United States] Military Comm Stations . . . . . . . . the accent was not Japanese either, but Chinese.”

Alongside these reports, there are still the unsubstantiated claims (or just rumors at this point) of Chinese soldiers involved in a shooting incident with American Border Patrol agents and the Mexican army. The incident occurred on October 24, 2000 with the Mexican army making an incursion onto the American side of the border. When the Border Patrol identified themselves and told the soldiers to return to their side of the border, the soldiers opened fire on the agents.

Janice Manning, of YOWUSA, writes:
The incident, which occurred on October 24 near the Otay Mesa border-crossing southeast of San Diego, has received little attention in the mainstream media but local law enforcement circles are a buzz at reports that Mexican soldiers were not the only ones in the area.
Several eyewitness accounts stated soldiers of Asian and Caucasian origin were also firing from Mexico on the Border Patrol agents in the unprovoked attack.
A Border Patrol agent, speaking to the Strategic Jungle Syndicate on the condition of anonymity, stated the attack was more than Mexican soldiers firing upon what they thought might be drug dealers. 'Everything happened so fast but I know not all of them were Mexican nationals,' the agent said. 'More than two of us saw what appeared to be an Asian soldier. I didn't get a real clean look at his eyes but he certainly looked Asian to me. The bottom line here is this was planned and not some random event. The government might not want to admit that but it's the damn truth.'
The agent also stated several Mexican nationals, attempting to cross the border illegally, also told of 'chinos,' a slang term in Spanish for Chinese, soldiers dressed in fatigues. 'There were a few people in the brush trying to get into the United States and after the shooting ended, they were apprehended and being processed to return to Mexico,' the Border Patrol agent said.
'Two or three of them were close enough and said they heard men speaking what they described as Chinese. They were scared and said they had seen the men before, including some white men driving military type vehicles.'
Local law enforcement officials have also confirmed the movement of unidentified military vehicles. A deputy with the San Diego County Sheriff's office confirmed officers have encountered unknown vehicles in and near the border area. 'We're all law enforcement officers and we talk a lot about what we see,' the deputy with nine years in the department said. 'There's been strange things going on. Even homeowners have been calling about automatic weapons fire in the canyons near Otay Mesa. I know my friends with the San Diego Police Department also hear about it. There's something going on and most of us feel like we're not being told everything.'
Of course, these types of reports have never been corroborated by official sources nor by any hard evidence gained from on the ground reporting. For that reason, it would advisable not to put too much stock in them as of yet.
However, considering the fact that the world seems to be quickly marching toward a third world war in which the United States and China will undoubtedly play a major role, it might also be wise not to completely ignore such information.

After all, China does have a strategic interest in Mexico. Its shipping ports have long been used as an end-run around “free trade” restrictions between the U.S. and China, taking advantage of the signing of the disastrous NAFTA agreement which opened the floodgates of goods and jobs between the two nations and Canada. Both China and the U.S. are taking advantage of this initial agreement as a way to flood the U.S. market with Chinese goods, as China would offload its products at the Mexican ports and where they head straight for the United States market via the Mexican trucks.

It may very well be that there are Chinese troops in Mexico in an effort to protect their investments and ensure that their products make it to market. It is also possible that China is using this reasoning merely as cover for a more militaristic strategic purpose than simply guarding trinkets from drug traffickers. We must keep in mind that plans have been discussed to use foreign troops in the event of mass dislocation and Martial Law inside the United States. Of course, these reports of Chinese troops in Mexico may be false.  The war machine loves to induce fear whether real or imagined and they have remained silent.

Many of the claims that are circulating regarding sightings of Chinese helicopters and stationing of Chinese troops at American bases, however, are more likely the result of overactive imaginations. For instance, there are detachments of Asian troops inside the United States – in Texas, Idaho, and Arizona – where many of these sightings have occurred. However, these troops proved to be Singaporean not Chinese, as Singapore has two helicopter and fighter jet detachments inside the United States as part of a program between the two governments for training the RSAF (Royal Singaporean Air Force) because the Singaporean airspace is too restrictive to provide adequate training.

Whatever one thinks of this program, it is certainly not a secretive one. Indeed, Singapore has worked very close with the United States and Israel for years.  But it is still foreign troops o U.S. soil.

Regardless of what ones initial reactions may be, the claims being made regarding real Chinese troops in Mexico, particularly in such large numbers, obviously bear watching. At this stage of the game, we cannot afford to become complacent or to write anything off in a knee-jerk reaction.

If anyone has any legitimate information or tips regarding Chinese soldiers inside Mexico (or the United States), please send them to activistpost@gmail.com.

CIA Home Invasion: Smart TVs and the 'Internet of Things'

Recently, CIA Director David Petraeus made headlines with a speech given at the summit for In-Q-Tel, the CIA’s venture capital firm. In this talk, Petraeus discussed the emerging “internet of things” and the implications it will have for increased levels of surveillance. Petraeus explained that, because of the rise of gadgets which are connected and controlled by apps, intelligence agencies will no longer need to place spy devices inside your home – you will do it for them.

In conjunction with a recent unveiling of a new low-powered computer chip by ARM, one of the world’s largest chip companies, the fact is virtually every piece of electronic equipment (including appliances) can be controlled via apps and Internet-based systems. It is for this reason that Petraeus stated that the CIA will be able to read these devices via the Internet and even radio waves outside of the home.

Petraeus further stated,
‘Transformational’ is an overused word, but I do believe it properly applies to these technologies.

Particularly to their effect on clandestine tradecraft. Items of interest will be located, identified, monitored, and remotely controlled through technologies such as radio-frequency identification, sensor networks, tiny embedded servers, and energy harvesters – all connected to the next-generation internet using abundant, low-cost, and high-power computing.
He also added, “the latter now going to cloud computing, in many areas greater and greater supercomputing, and, ultimately heading to quantum computing.”

Of course, it is well-known that the CIA or any other government agency is admitting to such a level of capability, the truth is that this technology has been available for many years, even tested and perfected long before the first hints were given to the general public.

But perhaps just as alarming as Petraeus’ statements is the recent announcement regarding the new models of Samsung televisions currently being rolled out on the market. Indeed, if these new products are not a full blast initiation into the world of George Orwell’s 1984, then they are, at the very least, half way there.

This is because Samsung’s new line of LED HDTV’s will now include built-in, internally wired HD cameras, face tracking and speech recognition capabilities, and twin microphones. In the 2012 8000-series plasmas, the cameras and microphones are built directly into the screen bezel. The 7500 – 8000ES-series TV’s, however, will have the cameras permanently attached to the top of the set.

Obviously, the new TV’s, with their ability to access the Internet, will be connected to Samsung’s own software, but the sets will also be compatible with “third party apps” in much the same manner as the appliances mentioned above by Petraeus.

These TV’s, via the built-in camera and face recognition software, locate and record the faces of viewers while storing this information within the software for future use. The idea is that the software, after logging the different faces into the program, can then “personalize the experience” for the individual viewers.

The TV’s also come equipped with the ability to listen and respond to voice commands. Naturally, the built-in microphones must be active in order to use this feature.

It should also be noted that these features, unlike the add-on accessories that have come with television sets up to this point, cannot be removed simply by unplugging a device by its cord or USB cable. Again, the devices are built-in as part of the system itself.

As Gary Merson of HD GURU writes, these new “features” bring with them some important privacy concerns.

What concerns us is the integration of both an active camera and microphone. A Samsung representative tells us you can deactivate the voice feature; however this is done via software, not a hard switch like the one you use to turn a room light on or off.
(. . .)
During our demo, unless the face recognition learning feature was activated, there was no indication as to whether the camera (such as a red light) and audio mics are on. And as far as the microphone is concerned there is no way to physically disconnect it or be assured it is not picking up your voice when you don’t intend it to do so.
Merson also lists several questions about just how much data is collected and how that data is intended to be used. He asks:

Can Samsung or Samsung-authorized companies watch you watching your Samsung TV?
Do the televisions send a user ID or the TV’s serial number to the Samsung cloud whenever it has an Internet connection?
Does Samsung cross reference a user ID or facial scan to your warranty registration information, such as name, address, etc.?
Can a person or company listen to you, at will, via the microphone and Internet connection?
Does Samsung’s cloud store all this information? How secure is this extremely personal data?
Can a hacker intercept this data or view you via the built in camera?
Can a third-party app program do any of the above?
Exactly what information does the TV send to Samsung or other parties?
Does Samsung intend to sell data collected by its Smart TV owners, such as who, what and when one is viewing?
Of course, all of these questions are completely legitimate. However, they still fall short of some of the bigger issues involved with the introduction of the new models.

Yet, if the very idea of cameras and microphones embedded in their TV’s does not prevent the consumer purchasing these new sets to begin with, the fact that the ability to “deactivate” the system is wholly inadequate should add further motivation to abstain from the new Samsung models.

As Merson mentions, the cameras cannot be removed as they are built directly in as part of the set. The only available means to avoid the camera facing the viewers is to manually change the angle of the camera to point upward toward the ceiling in the case of the LED sets. In the plasma models, the camera can be “re-aimed to capture objects in the rear of the TV according to a Samsung spokesperson.”

But although the cameras can be shifted manually, there is no such guarantee that the voice recognition software and the built-in microphones have truly been turned off. This is because there is no manual shut-off option – the microphone can only be silenced by using Samsung’s own software. This, of course, leaves the user only the trust they hold in the electronics manufacturer as a guarantee.

I don’t know about you, but the word of a major corporation, coming on the heels of an announcement by the CIA Director that the agency will soon be spying on us through our ordinary household appliances, is simply not good enough.

For instance, even if the cameras are turned to face another direction, what guarantees do we have that there is no secondary device located somewhere else inside the TV? This might sound far-fetched at first, but, even so, Samsung is doing nothing to allay these concerns. In fact, it took some amount of controversy before they even released part of their privacy agreement, even though the TV’s have been on the shelves for weeks. A notable section of the agreement reads:
We reserve the right to share all Personal Data and non-Personal Data with any company within the Samsung Electronics group of companies, or with any other company that operates under the Samsung brand. … Each of the Samsung Group Companies will use your information in accordance with their own independent privacy practices.
Notice that the terms “Personal Data” and “non-Personal Data” are not defined.

You also have to agree to the following statement in order to download your owner’s manual (since Samsung has stopped printing them).

Samsung assumes no responsibility, and shall not be liable, in connection with whether any such products or services will be appropriate, functional or supported for the Samsung products or services available in your country.
Could “appropriate” uses include that of surveillance? We have yet to know the answer to this question because Samsung refuses to answer it.

Furthermore, in order to “deactivate” the Smart TV microphone, you must use the Samsung software which, in turn, must log in to the Samsung Cloud in order to be utilized. Therefore, the Cloud exists as a virtual backdoor that leads directly to the TV set in your living room, microphones and all. Since the Cloud is merely part of the Internet, this leaves the innermost parts of your home easily accessible to hackers and, even more concerning, to the government.

This is nothing to scoff at. The fact is that the government, not to mention corporations interested in data marketing, have a vested and concerted interest at acquiring, storing, and centralizing data belonging to every human being both within and without their borders. Indeed, the accessibility of such data is already at the fingertips of whatever agency wishes to take advantage of it. This is a program which they are no doubt already implementing.

As I wrote in my article, “New Report: ‘Recording Everything’ Details How Governments Can Shape The Dynamics Of Dissent,” within the next few years, it will be possible for the intelligence wing of the U.S. government to collect, store, and centralize every type of data in existence on every human being in the country, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for one year for a total cost ranging in the few hundred thousands. And this is only what has been announced. It doesn’t include the secret black projects that currently remain under wraps or the fact that these programs have been ongoing for years.

Not only that, but with the open desire by the U.S. government to create a Total Information Awareness network, as well as the legal infrastructure such as the Patriot Act and other Big Brother legislation, a climate has been created where all of the data acquired by Smart TVs will inevitably be soaked into this government network. Not only that, the snooping infrastructure is such that one can assume that every piece of information that finds its way into the Cloud will not eventually find its way to a centralized government database, but will do so immediately.

The fact is, while even those few individuals who are still concerned with their privacy complain about their constant loss of it, the all-too-familiar warning of our descent into a world spoken of in George Orwell’s 1984 is often repeated ad nauseum. However, the truth is that the warnings of our becoming an Orwellian police state someday “in the near future” can now cease to be uttered.

The time for worry over the United States becoming a society of total surveillance has passed. The truth is, whether the average American will admit it or not, the United States already is an Orwellian society.

At least we now know the reason why the Federal government mandated all televisions to go digital.
