You Want A Real List? Directory Of Accurate Alt Media Sources On Syria

Brandon Turbeville
August 29, 2018

As mainstream media doubles down in its coordinated propaganda against the Syrian government and in support of direct Western military intervention, the alternative media has been going up against unprecedented censorship on the part of the social media and Internet corporate giants at the same time. For that reason, it is becoming harder and harder to find accurate sources of information regarding Syria as well as all other topics in a general Internet search. While readers of the alt media before Google’s purge and censorfest took place have largely remained, the amount of people being exposed to new information and an alternative to government and corporate propaganda has been drastically reduced.

In addition, with disturbed “researchers” and various shadowy organizations creating silly lists of “Assadists,” “Fake News,” and “Russian propaganda,” I thought it might be useful to create a list of my own, containing a number of the same names, in order to provide a list of researchers, journalists, and activists who have been working to expose the true agenda behind what is happening in Syria today in hopes that my readers will also find their work and find access to additional sources of information which certainly will not be available in the mainstream press. This, of course, is in addition to my own work.

So, in light of having been left off a few of these lists, please forgive the shameless self-promotion of putting my own name and website first.

Brandon Turbeville – I’ll start by mentioning my own work which can mostly be found here at Activist Post but also at my own website BrandonTurbeville.com, Facebook and Twitter. In addition, I have written two books on the subject, the most relevant being Resisting The Empire: The Plan To Destroy Syria And How The Future Of The World Depends On The Outcome, and The Road To Damascus: The Anglo-American Assault On Syria.

Vanessa Beeley – Vanessa Beeley is perhaps the tip of the spear in the effort to stop the war in Syria and expose Western propaganda such as the White Helmets and Western funding of terrorism in Syria. Vanessa writes regularly for 21stCenturyWire and her own website, The Wall Will Fall. Facebook and Twitter links can be found here.

Eva Bartlett – Eva Bartlett has been opposing Western imperialism and Zionism for years even long before the Syrian crisis began, having lived in Gaza for a number of years covering the Zionist occupation. Eva has written for a number of different media outlets but her own website is In Gaza. She is highly active on social media as well with her Facebook and Twitter feeds linked here. Unfortunately, her social media accounts come under constant attack.

Syrian Girl (Maram Susli, Mimi al-Laham) – Having used a number of names during the course of the Syrian crisis, “Syrian Girl” has been on the front lines of deconstructing Western propaganda and myths about Syria. An actual Syrian, “Syrian Girl” was probably the first researcher or activist to speak out on a large scale regarding what was actually happening in Syria. She’s probably the most censored pro-Syria activist. Facebook deleted all her accounts and YouTube (here and here) has since taken down her video account as well (although she is in the process of rebuilding it). For now, she is most active on Twitter but also restarted her Facebook pages (here and here).

Afraa Dagher – Afraa Dagher is not only a Syrian but she continues to reside in Syria and has remained there since the beginning of the crisis. Afraa began her commentary by doing a number of on-the-ground reports from Syria with journalists in the United States. Like, Syrian Girl, her YouTube account was disabled by YouTube and many of her previous videos deleted. She now has a primarily social media presence on Facebook and Twitter, although she regularly writes articles submitted to a variety of websites such as Syria News.

Her articles regarding the Kurdish issue make her work indispensable to understanding ongoing events. You can follow her on Facebook and Twitter.

Ziad Fadel – Ziad Fadel, owner and operator of Syrian Perspective, has provided daily updates as to what is taking place in Syria since the beginning of the Syrian crisis, a service Fadel has continued until this day. His witty barbs are appreciated nearly as much as his information which has and continues to be indispensable. Syrian Perspective can be followed on both Twitter and Facebook (here and here).

Tony Cartalucci – Another pioneer in alt media coverage of geopolitics, Tony Cartalucci has covered the Syrian crisis since day one as well as the tragic war in Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan, color revolutions across the world and remains possibly the only website consistently covering the Wests’ destabilization efforts in Thailand. Hands Off Syria has many different chapters so be sure to check and see if there is one near you, particularly if you are in Australia.

Sarah Abdallah – Sarah has made virtually every single “hit list” coming from the MSM and/or NGO Industrial Complex. At one point, she was labeled a spy and, at another time, a robot. She’s real though and she posts extremely accurate and hardhitting information. Find her at facebook and twitter. She also has a website, SarahAbdallah.net.

Carla Ortiz – It may seem strange to note that a Bolivian actress and filmmaker is a source of news about the conflict in Syria but the fact is that, ever since traveling to Syria in person, Ortiz has been very outspoken about the media propaganda surrounding the crisis and has been a powerful voice attempting to bring the truth to light. Follow Carla on Facebook and Twitter. Carla has even been the source of a number of groundbreaking reports, adding legitimate journalist, far beyond the scale of any MSM circus act, to her resume.
