Did The U.S. Really Bomb A Mosque In Syria? Many Factors At Play In Latest Reports

If new reports are accurate, the Trump administration is now doing all it can to not only continue Obama’s war crimes in Syria but apparently to do so in the most visible fashion possible. Only a few days after mobilizing U.S. troops in Northern Syria near Manbij, the United States has allegedly launched airstrikes in al-Jineh under the guise of targeting terrorist organization, Ahrar al-Sham, an al-Qaeda affiliate. Instead of hitting terrorists, however, reports are suggesting that the U.S. simply blew up a mosque, killing around forty civilians.

At the very beginning, of course, the Western media apparently ran headlines claiming that it was the Russians who bombed the mosque. Later, it was reported that it was the United States who was the responsible party, however, the Russian headlines were scrubbed and new stories published reporting the bombing as well as the public denials by the U.S. military.

The airstrike took place in al-Jineh in Aleppo province. The U.S. claims that the bombing was intended for a building nearby that was believed to be hosting an al-Qaeda meeting. U.S. officials claim that the intended building is 40 to 50 feet away from the mosque and even state that the mosque is still standing. The military claims images actually prove the mosque is still standing.

"We did not target, nor did we strike a mosque," Major Josh Jacques, a spokesman for US Central Command (Centcom) told the BBC.
