North Korea Remains Defiant; U.S. Remains Aggressive

After a series of aggressive actions across the world by the United States, North Korea defied the apparent Western right to dictate the behavior and policies of all nations on the globe by launching a missile test on Sunday. Despite warnings from the United States about nuclear and missile tests, North Korea also announced that there will be no changes to its plans to conduct such tests in the future.

The world is now awaiting the American response. Unfortunately, however, American responses these days tend to come in the form of bombs, missiles, and destabilizations.

North Korean Vice Foreign Minister Han Song Ryol remained defiant earlier this week stating clearly that, “We'll be conducting more missile tests on a weekly, monthly and yearly basis." He added that, if the United States attempts a “military solution” then North Korea will respond “with a nuclear pre-emptive strike” and “all-out war” will ensue.

As FOX News reports, “North Korea’s deputy U.N. ambassador Kim In Ryong said during a news conference that the U.S. was turning the Korean Peninsula into “the world’s biggest hotspot” and creating “a dangerous situation in which a thermonuclear war may break out at any moment.”

So America has finally done it. It has finally sunk so low as to make possibly the most ruthless dictator in the world actually become the good guy in a confrontation between our country and his.

After all, who could blame North Korea for continuing to build their nuclear arsenal? The United States has one and it is the biggest threat to world security and national sovereignty in existence today. Israel has one and it is a common Israeli practice to bomb its neighbors. So it appears that a nuclear arsenal not only empowers a nation to act with impunity against other countries, it is also the only thing that protects it from invasion and destruction. That is, if the aggressing parties are not completely insane which is not something one should bet on in the current climate.

Never one to de-escalate the situation, U.S. Vice President Mike Pence has also stated that “All options are on the table” and has hinted that the United States may be done with its alleged attempt to contain and dismantle North Korea’s nuclear program. “For more than two decades, the United States and our allies have worked to peacefully dismantle North Korea’s nuclear program, and alleviate the suffering of their people. But at every step of the way, North Korea answered our overtures with willful deception, broken promises and nuclear and missile tests,” he stated.

China, apparently willing to play ball with the United States over the issue of North Korea has already reportedly begun preparing to deal with the aftermath of a major U.S. strike, putting its troops on alert and placing a large number on the border with North Korea.

Reports coming from mainstream sources do indicate that the U.S. military is looking at a variety of options that include a military strike, shooting down missiles or even the remote chance of continuing the current policy towards the isolated Asian nation.

Given the Trump administration’s penchant for wild acts and no prior announcement, rest assured the American people will not be consulted in any decision made in their name.

At the same time, it cannot be ignored that North Korea has been employed as a useful pawn in the West's "strategy of tension" for quite some time with the Asian dictatorship constantly serving to provide a distraction for Western governments and mainstream media outlets until a more pressing issue has passed into the obscurity of American attention spans.
