Are Russians Sending Military Support To Syria? Potential For Conflict With NATO?

If reports coming from YNet News are accurate, the Syrian crisis just became more complex and more dangerous. The report would be great news for the Assad government, however, as it suggests that, in addition to providing Syria with six new MIG 31 jets and providing satellite images with the SAA, the Russians will also be delivering an expeditionary force of Russian soldiers.

YNet claims that the Russian force will be made up of fighter pilots, attack helicopter pilots, advisors, technicians, logistics personnel, instructors, and members of the aerial protection division. The forces are to be stationed at a permanent base in Syria. Although the Russians already maintain the Port of Tartus, YNet suggests that the new base of operations will be an “Assad-controlled” location in an area surrounding Damascus.

YNet refers to the alleged Russian base as “Forward-Operating Base” and has estimated the number of Russian personnel scheduled to enter Syria as being in the “thousands.”

What A Russian Force Would Mean For Assad

If we are able to work on the assumption that the YNet report is accurate, a Russian “expeditionary force” would be a major shot in the arm for the Assad government, even if this force is only operating on the periphery of the conflict. The provision of the MIG-31 jet aircraft was extremely important in terms of technical capabilities for the Syrian government’s necessity to bomb ISIS held territory while avoiding relatively sophisticated anti-aircraft weapons provided to the terrorists by the West. It was also because of what it meant in terms of international relations and the stance of the Russian government in the context of the Syrian crisis. Essentially, it was a clear statement that “Russia stands with Syria.”

Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates Invade Yemen In Open War

Unbeknownst to most Americans, a new war was launched in early August and not merely the proxy force versus proxy force variety that we have become accustomed to seeing over the last few years. A direct military conflict and invasion of Yemen by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates – complete with air assaults, tanks, and ground troops – was launched in early August. Yet, if one were not following the events in Yemen closely, you would scarcely have known that the war had started.

Indeed, when Tony Cartalucci wrote that, “with almost a whimper,” the Western media reported the ground invasion of Yemen, he couldn’t have been more right.

Regardless, the Saudi Arabians and other members of the “coalition” created to defeat the Houthi rebels have been bombing Yemen for months, killing scores of innocent civilians. These bombing raids, while proving devastating to the civilian population, did little to dislodge the Houthi rebels’ hold on territory aside from the port of Aden, an area already the scene of fierce fighting between the Houthis, forces loyal to former President Hadi, and al-Qaeda fighters. During the course of the bombing, the Houthis demonstrated that, not only were they able to withstand the Saudi bombing campaign but they were able to launch retaliatory strikes inside Saudi Arabia. The Houthi resiliency and the subsequent strikes inside Saudi Arabia thus revealed the Saudis as a military paper tiger.

The Saudi ambition of bombing the Houthis into submission changed in early August when the Saudi forces along with their “coalition” colleague United Arab Emirates began a ground invasion of Yemen.

Color Revolution In Lebanon Designed To Weaken Hezbollah, Syria, Iran

August 27, 2015

During the past week, demonstrations in Lebanon over uncollected garbage have descended into violent clashes between protesters and police. Masses of demonstrators have swelled in the streets of Beirut in a movement now being deemed the “You Stink!” movement.

With these developments suddenly taking place in Lebanon and, with taking the Syrian crisis into context and the Iranian nuclear deal in the background, it is reasonable to question whether or not these protests are a legitimate expression of discontent with an inefficient government or whether it is the product of a Western-backed color revolution aimed at destabilizing Lebanon – particularly Hezbollah – and further weakening the “Shiite Arch of Influence.”

When attempting to analyze events in Lebanon, like much of the Middle East, very little could be considered simple. Lebanon has been racked with economic depression, cultural tensions, color revolutions, civil war and civil war brinkmanship, and terrorism for decades. It has also been the target of outside forces for many years.

The Background

The issue of trash pickup – the issue around which the protests began – was entirely a legitimate issue. Squabbling within the Lebanese government has resulted in gridlock on issues such as the disposal of garbage and the economic crisis has brought funding of garbage disposal into question. Likewise, when the government brought up the idea of the privatization of trash disposal services, Lebanese erupted in anger understanding that privatization would mean higher prices, poorer service, and even less accountability.

Western Propaganda Method: Claim Dead Terrorists As Dead Civilians

By now, the propaganda coming from the US State Department and the United Nations as well as their media mouthpieces should be familiar. According to these institutions, the Assad government is evil, illegitimate, and it intentionally massacres civilians. These claims are easily proven false and have been proven false in the past. Indeed, I have discussed these types of claims at length in my own articles and exposed them for being nothing more than weak attempts to convince Western peoples that Assad is a butcher and the terrorist are democracy-loving freedom fighters.

Such can be seen in the recent attempt to portray the Syrian Air Force as wantonly murdering civilians with “barrel bombs” in places like Doumaa.

Surrounding an incident in which the SAAF dropped a barrel bomb on a marketplace in Doumaa, the site of an intense battle between terrorists and the Syrian government forces, the jihadist-friendly Syrian Observatory for Human Rights joined forces yet again with the US State Department in its claims that Assad had ordered a massacre of innocent civilians who were merely shopping in a marketplace.

Consider the State Department’s response to the incident which read that “The United States condemns, in the strongest terms, the recent deadly airstrikes this week on a market in the Damascus suburb of Douma that killed more than 100 people and injured hundreds including innocent women and children.”

National Security Council Spokesman, Ned Price stated,

While the Israeli’s continue to launch bombing raids across the border into Syria and the Turks prepare for an invasion of Syria on the northern border – along with an already aggressive “No-Fly Zone” policy protecting ISIS supply lines – the Turks are now engaging in an even more dangerous game. As if Turkey’s aggression against its Southern neighbor was not enough, the Turks are now aiding in the development of fighting forces to be aimed at Russia.

On August 1-2, a meeting was convened at the Hotel Billkent in Ankara, Turkey labeled the Second World Congress of the Tatars. This meeting brought together over 200 Tatar NGOs and associations from all over the world. The event was also attended by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin and Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus. Both officials participated in the event as well.

As Zaman reports,

Nearly 200 Crimean Tatar nongovernmental organizations and civil society groups gathered in Ankara as part of the Second World Crimean Tatar Congress to discuss the ongoing crisis in Ukraine and the situation of their brethren in Crimea, which was annexed by Russia in February of last year.

The meeting took place on Saturday at Ankara Bilkent Hotel and Congress Center and focused on the dire conditions under which Crimean Tatars have to live in the face of encroaching Russian pressure on their cultural life. The gathering offered an opportunity for lengthy discussions about how to resolve the prolonged conflict in Ukraine and to maintain Tatars' threatened community rights under the new administration in Crimea.

Israel "Drills" Ground Incursion In Syria; Pretext Fighting Terror Israel Helped Create

Brandon Turbeville

August 18, 2015

According to reports coming from both Israel and Europe, the Israeli Defense Forces appear to be preparing for a ground incursion of Syrian territory in the Golan Heights area.

Whatever the plans of the IDF, the Israeli military clearly engaged in wide-scale maneuvers on the border with Syria on Sunday which simulated an incursion into Syrian territory and the evacuation of Israelis currently residing in border towns.

Yoav Zitun of YNetNews describes the drills by writing,

Military exercises in the area over the last two weeks have focused primarily on a scenario of offensive operations inside Syrian territory in response to possible action from the Syrian border such as the infiltration of dozens of terrorists armed with anti-tank weapons, machine guns, grenades and light weapons into one of the communities along the border.

The exercises included possible IDF responses to such infiltrations with troops firing at fixed points on the Syrian side of the border. Simultaneously, officials expect a barrage of mortar bombs to be fired at communities in the Golan Heights during such a scenario.

Commanders in the field put theoretical defensive plans into action using aircraft and combat helicopters alongside tank-fire, artillery guns and even hundreds of reserve fighters who participated in the exercise.

UN Says “Too Soon For Syria Peace Conference” So Long As ISIS Gains Ground

Syria Peace

August 13, 2015

In late July, as ISIS’ gains across Syria were televised all over Western media, the United Nations publicly announced that it was too soon for another Syrian peace conference.

The UN position was no doubt confusing to many half-cognizant observers since the United Nations is typically the loudest voice calling for peace talks (oftentimes half-heartedly) in any given confrontation. This time, however, the UN has thrown up its hands and essentially declared “it’s no use!”

The official reason for the UN declining to restart peace talks is that the two sides in the Syrian conflict could not agree on the most vital issue at hand – the Assad government’s transition from power.

At Geneva II, the Syrian government participated in the negotiations but rejected the forced abdication being demanded by terrorists and NATO countries. The terrorist and US-puppet contingent would hear of nothing that did not require a transition without Assad. After a communique’ was issued by the United Nations Secretary General that all had agreed upon the need for a “transitional government body with full executive powers,” the US balked and said that, in such a “transitional government,” Assad would have no place, essentially throwing much of the work of seemingly genuine parties like the Russians and Syrians into disarray.

It should be noted, however, that the United Nations, while attempting to appear neutral during the discussions, was clearly pushing for a transition. The UN was interested only in negotiating the terms of that transition as opposed to whether or not the transition would take place in the first place.

NC Activist Nicole Revels Discusses NC Backyard Chicken ID

Brandon Turbeville

August 11, 2015

The recent announcement of an attempt by North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to force backyard chicken owners to register their chickens with the department has brought quite a bit of attention to North Carolina. It has also brought quite a bit of controversy.

Most backyard chicken owners are balking at the idea of registration. The state of NC is very shadowy about their plans for the program and are anything but clear as to how this policy will be utilized in real terms.

As Heather Callaghan wrote in her article, "IS NC Requiring Barcodes For Backyard Chicken Owners?" for Natural Blaze,
Given the government's previous treatment of backyard gardeners, family farms and chicken owners, with the addition of destructive practices should an outbreak be declared and a general misunderstanding and mistreatment of independent growers - it isn't too surprising that backyard free-range owners are concerned about getting flagged in a database. If previous abuses like the Rawesome food raid and Morningland Dairy Cheese hadn't taken place, then maybe people would be happier to help without concerns of targeting and food source destruction.

MSM To Pro-Vaxxers: Don't Argue The Facts, Show Scary Pictures!

Brandon Turbeville
Activist Post
August 5, 2015

The Vaccine industry, Big Pharma, and the mainstream media have some advice for vaccine zealots attempting to bully parents questioning the safety or effectiveness of vaccines into changing their minds – Don’t argue the facts! Show scary pictures!

In what can only be described as an instruction manual as to how to shame, bully, and shout a person down who simply has a different take on the best and safest way to raise their children, it is clear that the religion of vaccines and “scientism” now has the hallmark of any faith determined to spread itself – the presence of evangelicals.

The new vaccine evangelical movement is being provided with a script sheet of what to say and what to avoid when attempting to convert others to their belief system. Like most religions, the goal among the leaders and the zealots is a world where differing modes of thought no longer exist and where other opinions no longer force them to question the way they view that world.

Articles like “How To Change An Anti-Vaxxer’s Mind” by Jeffrey Kloger of TIME, are a perfect example of the recent propaganda blitz coming from the mainstream media. Kloger’s article is being quickly copied and rewritten in mainstream media outlets all across the country with the real vitriol being found in the more trendy hipster markets.

The recent propaganda push is being based upon a study by researchers at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. It’s not certain exactly how much time and effort was put into the study to discover what most undergraduate marketing students and any remotely successful politician, salesman, or sociopath already knows – that scary pictures are more effective at convincing hordes of people of an idea (true or false) than facts, reasoning, or logic.

U.S. Agrees To Act As Terrorist Bodyguard; Open To Attacking Assad Forces

Brandon Turbeville
Activist Post
August 3, 2015

Fresh on the heels of the establishment of an "ISIL-Free Zone" (aka "No-Fly Zone") in northern Syria along the Turkish border, the United States has quietly announced that it will also extend its airstrike operations to act as the traveling bodyguard of the jihadists it has trained and “vetted.”

The policy, reportedly authorized by Barack Obama, would involve the US Air Force bombing any force attacking the so-called “moderate rebel fighters,"including the Syrian military.

The announcement was first reported on Sunday by the Wall Street Journal via anonymous military sources. The senior military official told the WSJ “For offensive operations, it’s ISIS only. But if attacked, we’ll defend them against anyone who’s attacking them. We’re not looking to engage the regime, but we’ve made a commitment to help defend these people.”

White House National Security Council spokesman, Alistair Baskey, stated “We won't get into the specifics of our rules of engagement, but have said all along that we would take the steps necessary to ensure that these forces could successfully carry out their mission.”

Pentagon spokeswoman Commander Elissa Smith, added to the statement by saying “We recognize, though, that many of these groups now fight on multiple fronts, including against the Assad regime, (Islamic State) and other terrorists.”

Turkey's War On The Kurds, ISIS Air Force Flies Again

Brandon Turbeville
Activist Post
July 31, 2015

Shortly before calling a NATO meeting under the pretense of concerns over its security, Turkey launched a bombing campaign across the border into Syria allegedly against the ISIS forces that it has supported, trained, and facilitated since the beginning of the Syrian crisis.

Very soon after the bombing campaign was launched there came the announcement that Turkey and the United States had agreed to implement an “ISIL Free Zone” otherwise known as a “No Fly Zone” in northern Syria.

Prior to the formal announcement of the “ISIL-Free/No-Fly Zone,” it was known that Turkey had launched a simultaneous attack on Kurdish targets in Iraq. After the announcement, these attacks on Kurdish targets intensified to greatly overshadow anything purporting to be an attack on ISIS.

Thus, as Turkey whines about the threat ISIS poses to its security, fresh on the heels of a dubious ISIS bombing of a political demonstration, Turkey has demonstrated that the real targets of its bombing campaign is not ISIS at all, it is the Kurds.

Since the 1980s, Turkey has been locked in a political and sometimes bloody military struggle with the Kurds inside its own borders. Turkish Kurds have provided political, military, and demonstrative opposition to the power structure inside Turkey for some time – at times calling for more rights and at other times calling for autonomy and even outright independence.
